Post by AlbertoC »

The patch accompanying Red Steel is here!

The DLC will be released later today at 3 pm UK time, but in the meantime we're releasing the patch accompanying it. You can find it in the Members' Area of the Slitherine site.

You can find the full changelog down below. Let us know what you think.

Changelog:
- Added Red Steel Campaign - The 2nd Campaign for the Soviet forces. You can import your Core from Red Star.
- Updated UI System - Totally refactored the game's UI system. Uses less system resources and supports up to 4K resolution!
- Added a number of unit camo patterns and made Soviet and Italian equipment accept unit skins
- Added 3 New multiplayer maps
- Fixed several instances where text was not translated
- Adjusted and fixed a number of unit data entries
- Updated OT-34 to add flame attack animation

I found it here, about halfway down the page, under the Download tab:

https://www.slitherine.com/game/order-o ... -war-ii/pc

Notice the usual choice between PC and Mac updaters. They should explain the difference between "[PC] Installer 32Bit Only v8.3.0" and "[PC] Installer v7.1.4" which are presumably the base programs that need to be installed first.

Guys, I only did a super quick first look, but the new UI looks fabulous in full 3840x2160 (4K) resolution with my mod.
Works great on my rig (Win/Intel/Nvidia).
Finally I can read all the stuff without leaning towards the monitor....

THANK YOU! 8) :!:

A copy of my post in other thread:

"Also guys, I don't know how you managed to not notice it during testing, but when hovering over stars in unit panel - number of experience points isn't shown anymore. Neither there are any explanations for unit traits when hovering with a mouse pointer over them. Like, a new player won't even be able to know what "fleeting presence" or "light freight" means"

Does anyone else experience the same issue?

Hi

Yep, they're both logged now

N.b. it's the tooltips for the unit traits, not the traits

Its possible to change the german Infantry uniform skins in African scenarios yet to a more desert camo ? In Panzer Corps 2 it looks so amazing !
Or its possible to replace the skin textures directly in an mod subfolder ? That would be realy better and easier for the modding community.

There are few units left that cannot be skinned for now, like BT-7 or T-26 tanks. That will change. But most Soviet units can use skins in Red Star, if you updated to most recent version/or use Red Steel.

I have a problem when playing the game offline (Steam version), and it wasn't like this in v8.3.0:

OoB wants to "connect" to the internet, and the box has obviously no "time out" mechanic anymore, it won't vanish.

I can block the game's access to the internet via my firewall, but that's not a real solution and I get a "pbem error: connect failure" error message every time I start up the game. Please do something about it, it's annoying.
(Or help me fix it myself, if possible. I have a dial-up connection and usually I'm offline)

Hi,

So the game is trying to ping the PBEM server, even if you haven't clicked the Multiplayer menu?

I'm restarting Steam in offline mode to see if I can repro
