Combat Mission Shock Force 2 - Out on August 25th

Post by ledrobi » Tue Aug 04, 2020 9:42 am

We are proud to announce that we’ve partnered with Battlefront to bring Combat Mission: Shock Force 2 to our stores. The game, and all its DLCs, will be available from August 25th on Matrix Games, Steam, and other digital stores.

We already work with Battlefront on some very engaging professional projects where Combat Mission is used for training and analysis purposes. We are now genuinely excited to be able to bring it to our wargaming community.

What is Combat Mission Shock Force 2

Shock Force 2 brings you to a hypothetical conflict in Syria between the forces of NATO and the Syrian Army, in which you can play either in real-time or with the innovative turn-based WeGo system. Take command of US Stryker Brigade Combat Teams (SBCT) and Heavy Brigade Combat Teams (HBCT) to fight against Syrian Army Infantry, Mechanized and Armored units in an arid setting. Experience the full range of modern threats to conventional military forces, including irregular combat forces, terrorists, spies, suicide bombers, IED's and other deadly tools employed in the asymmetric warfare of the modern-day. Play the Task Force Thunder campaign, more than a dozen carefully crafted battles, or unlimited Quick Battles. Shock Force 2 focuses on tactical platoon-level action and features both a single-player campaign and multiplayer (Hotseat or PBEM).

I'm glad Slitherine will be able to help market the greatest tactical combat wargame series ever to keep BFC successful for another 20 years.

Nice, I had bought the game but was fed up with its DRM and destroyed the dvd since so many years and never bought again at Battlefront (nor Steam for sure, never).

Do battlefront users have a chance to get Steam Key?

Yay! This is fantastic news. Hopefully now they will stop charging us for patches and updates. The absolutely worst idea in the history of wargaming.

Will those who already own these games as they get released on Slitherine get a free Slitherine/Matrix Games key to download the latest version without having to repurchase on Slitherine?

They never charged for patches - that will likely not change. What will happen to upgrades is any one's guess.

Some details here from BFC:
http://community.battlefront.com/topic/ ... nt-1829133
tldr: new purchases from Slitherine will automatically get a steam key. Existing BFC purchasers will get a steam key but the process for getting that to people is not established yet.

http://community.battlefront.com/topic/ ... nt-1829139
tldr: Both Slitherine and BFC will be selling the games on their own site. I think that means there is no need to transfer from BFC to Slitherine. Is there something specific about the Slithering account that you would want to transfer your purchase record there? If people who purchase in either place can get a steam key is that enough?

That's amazing, I love Shock Force 1. Does anyone know if this new version features a windowed mode (not fullscreen)?

These are not new versions. Same versions available at BFC. So, no windowed mode.

Churchill said- "In war, one has neither friends nor enemies, only interests".
So I wonder what interest NATO has in Syria?
Oh wait..:)-

Can anyone point me to Slitherine's Twitch schedule. I want to see when they are going to air another Combat Mission game.
Thanks!

A surprise, but good news. It´s one of the best tactical game (simulator?). I will be interested in their WW2 titles though. I hope they will improve their PBEM system.
