Once upon the was a mod?
Once upon the was a mod?
Unit_WaypointSelected.dds
Which when replaced did a real nice job of highlighting the currently selected unit, but it does not work anymore.
(The selected tile now looks like a postage stamp.)
Does anyone know what file or how to fix this mod?
Thanks.

Re: Once upon the was a mod?
I assume you are talking about what was being discussed in this old thread;
https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewto ... ds#p683910
I was not aware that it was ever released. Obviously if you have it, then it must have been! Do you remember where you got it from?
Presumably something has changed in a game update that has stopped the modified Unit_WaypointSelected.dds texture working as intended. But I don't know what the mod was supposed to look like so I can't help. Maybe the original modder can remake it so that it works again.

Re: Once upon the was a mod?
Look at Mike's video. He was using the mod, but it now longer works:

See time: 5:38
It is not critical, but I liked it.

Sorry, that just looks like the normal selected unit highlight to me.MarkShot wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 1:48 pm Look at Mike's video. He was using the mod, but it now longer works:

That is not a mod, it is what I have, it is the standard graphic.

Re: Once upon the was a mod?
I have never seen this graphic before, and I have been playing FOG2 since before it was released, as I am a beta tester.
I have never seen it in any screenshots from other players either. Now I understand what you meant when you said it looks like a postage stamp.

Re: Once upon the was a mod?
Unfortunately, I can't get on my computer to check the files myself at the moment. But looking at the thread I linked in my first post , there are a number of tile highlight textures in the games folders that give your postage stamp effect.
I don't think they are intended to be used by FOG2, but somehow your game is using one of them instead of the correct file, which is the Unit_Waypointselected.dds.
You might need to contact technical support about this.
When I can get back on my pc I will contact Pip from Slitherine and ask him to take a look at this.

Re: Once upon the was a mod?
Hi MarkShot,
I have discussed your issue with Pip, the Slitherine's technical expert. We both think that your game installation has been corrupted somehow.
This is what your unit selection highlight should look like;
It is not a mod, it is the standard game's texture.
I don't know if you have made any changes to your main game installation files, such as copying and pasting a mod directly into it, but you should not be seeing that postage stamp texture!
You should never make changes to your main game files, any mods should be installed in the Field of Glory II in My Documents/My Games.
What Pip suggests you should do is uninstall FoG2, and then manually delete any files that are still in the main game directory, which is either Program Files (x86)/Slitherine/Field of Glory II, or Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Field of Glory II if you have the game through Steam. Then reinstall the game again. You should then have the correct unit selection highlight back.
cheers
Paul

Okay, Paul.
Thanks.
I will make a screenshot of my settings and try that.

Okay, I saved my current campaign. Uninstalled via Steam. Cleaned up all leftovers in Steam, and C:\USERS\ADMINISTRATOR\
I will let you know.
I will let you know.
Re: Once upon the was a mod?
Paul,
The reinstall cleared up the problems. Since I was able to put the my USER directory back with mods and games, it appears the main game directory had gotten corrupted.
I am happy to have the improved base without modding.
Thank you!
