Order of Battle Update 8.6.0

HI,

Patch notes for the release accompanying Red Storm:

New Features:
• added full Red Storm campaign
• added 4 Soviet commanders & many new units
• added some of the units from the BoB mod into the main game editor
• added destructible factory as unit/structure in editor
• added skin support for more US, Soviet units
• added skin support for Finland, Hungary units
• added various new skin camouflage patterns
• made some camo patterns available for more or all factions
• added trigger based choices for skinned AI in Red Storm
• reduced halftrack move cost in open winter terrain
• gave selected light tanks, tankettes step = 2 move to reflect their recon role
• a few other unit data changes

Bug Fixes:
• MP profiles are now viewable and editable
• Renabled Missing player portraits in MP profiles
• Commanders will no longer double when importing certain Cores
• Fixed issue where MP password was stored erroneously
• Add ability in Editor for Set Scenario Variable to do math operations between two
variables
• Unit upgrade/purchase panel was not opening in some situations
• Wrong victory type was sometimes given despite all objectives being green
• Sov_Fighter_Tactics specialization was adding wrong XP
• Aircraft fuel stats were sometimes inconsistent when the player had the Drop Tank
specialism

This is a very important change in the gameplay mechanics, which can make the game much easier (or harder if the AI has better or more tankettes/light tanks in some scenarios, I mean i.e. Morning Sun DLC), I don't know yet if I like it

What immediately comes to my mind: when light tanks or tankettes have that flexible pathing thing, why should I consider buying recon units then? OK, some light tanks might have a visibility ratting <4, but this change degrades the recon class quite a bit gamewise.

Recon has 1-2 CPs (slots) but light tanks/tankettes 4-5CPs

The Single Player campaign map screen I noticed there is no arrows or lines connecting Red Steel to Red Storm.

I don't play Multiplayer at all, but I wonder what MP players think about this change (giving some light tanks and tankettes the Recon units skills)? How will this change their strategies?

I am currently playtesting a custom mp Case White scenario and we're about halfway when the light tank/recon was introduced.
This added functionality for the Pz I/IIs was very welcome and had a nice blitzy feeling. I like it.

I haven't checked the M3A1 Stuart stats, but the US used this light tank as a recon vehicle from about 1943.
It would be nice to use it in this role in Salerno, Anzio, Normandy etc.

They have step 2. Like the other M3/5 except the Satan flamer :)

I didn't give it to the M2. Also not sure if the first M3 should stay with it (precisely for the reason you gave, and esp. with its Pac use in mind), but we can make adjustments on all those if needed :)

Love the camo update, the best thing of panzer corps 2 now appears. But still i hope devs can unlock all camo for each nation like in pc2, i spend more time to decide which colour than decide which unit lol.

I've been playing a good bit and really approve of the light tank double step. Makes them much more viable for doing light tank and recon work without making them at all overwhelming. Considering as they usually have bad stats but tank tier CP costs it is very nice that they have some utility value!

BTW kinda neat to see a change I suggested make it into the game.

Next up add doubled effectiveness cost per shot for heavy artillery and a heavy artillery trait that limits their terrain access.
