@Robotron: I agree with you in most points, but not with the first. After 1907, when King Edward VII visited Cartagena, Britain agreed with Spain to transfer technology to build three dreadnoughts in exchange for joining allied navy if Italy joined CP. As you say, Spain was not prepared to fight in west front trenches, so Joffre reject Alfonso's XIII offering to send 100.000 troops, it was foolish. But although the dreadnoughts construction was delayed, the Spanish navy would have joined the allied. It would have been a little contribution, but enough to improve allied mediterranean fleet. Of course, it would be very difficult to translate this to the game, and probably it is not worth it. Your mod already include a lot of events :D

By the way about Spain... I noticed that Portugal very rarely join the Entente. It would be nice add an event about Anglo-Portugal alliance for Entente like 'Bulgarian mobilization' for CP.

The starting alignment for Portugal was indeed on average set a bit too far to staying neutral, I'll change it for the next release.

Garrison in production queue bug

Not sure if I already reported this one for V7 or so, but a full British army corps in queue has become into a humble garrison. Not the first time I see this.

That garrison (formerly known as smallgarrison) is a result from the Egypt Revolt event that must have happened the turn before (at least the logfile says so). Any British units on Egypt cities are "repatriated" into the production queue.

Do you still have the autosaveEndturn of the last turn (turn 24) to check you had indeed an army corps in the queue too?
It would not be the first time people are misremembering things after playing for a long time and losing attention.

If not, the next time this happens send me that autosaveEndturn: put it an a zip/rar archive and upload it using the forum's upload feature (in the "full editor" reply box).

This is a MP against Cocolo, so no savegame available, I'm afraid. The game is just an agony right now, but we are testing and making our own experiments just to see what happens.
It would not be the first time people are misremembering things after playing for a long time and losing attention.
Well... I can`t confirm 100% that this is not the case. Better not to chase ghosts. I'll try to keep a log of the production queue next games.

I think there is an error here, for "Kornilov" event in game_diplomacy.lua:

Few bugs/comments

I love the mod, great work!

Few bugs/comments:
-Choosing the "Pro-tsarist coup" makes the game crash

- I know the "Choose none" button in the event screen distributes the intel points somehow but it still feels like a bug. Every turn, I first want to check the events if they are worth it. If they are not I want to close the window and choose a different action to spend my diplomacy points on. Right now, I have to save the game first, check the events and if none are good, load the game.

-The destabilization points and morale work weird in the later stage of the game. I've played Entente, september 2017, USA already having the first soldier on the French soil. Successful offensives everywhere except the East - I've recaptured Bruxelles and most of Belgium. I've captured Osnabrick on the Italian front, even Constantinople, the Ottoman capital. Then, Russia (which, I admit, was pretty beaten) surrendered, a turn later France's and Britain's morale dropped to 0, the "army exhausted" and "demonstrations" events were played for both countries and they both surrendered. So I lost the game when I had clear superiority and was making gains.

-When you play the Gallipoli events and control Anzac, a new French or British unit is spawned about every secong turn. Just leave Anzac with the new unit and you may be sure next one will appear there soon. I suppose it is a bug as this is a cheap way to get new units without actually spending any industry points.

-When Russia surrenders, a pop-up "USA surrenders" appears together with the proper one.

1. Pro-Tsarist Coup crash: this seems to be caused by the faulty script mentioned in the last post made by kossatx. If the game crashes, please report the last lines of the ctgw.log.

if the game keeps crashing please provide the last savegame (autosave.endturn) before the crash or better yet the ctgw.log (usually to be found in your Documents folder, so look in "My Documents\My Games\Commander The Great War".

Put the ctgw.log and/or autosave.endturn files into a .zip or .rar archive and attach them to your post using the forum's "upload attachment" feature in the bottom left corner of the reply box.

NOTE: This log is overwritten every time you start the game. Please make a copy of the log after any crash/bug you want to report BEFORE reloading the game.

Alternatively you can just copy/paste and post the last few lines of the "error" message at the end of the ctgw.log, usually this holds enough information to fix a bug.

2. "I want to check the event if they are worth it": this is not the way the event-choice option is meant to work. You are expected to take a risk by having to choose from what you are dealt, so no cherry-picking.

3. Well, Britain had taken too many losses in your game and the British people just wanted to stop their boys getting killed, not caring anymore about who would win. At such a point military gains are out of the window.

4. Anzac: okay, this seems to be a serious bug that needs to be looked after.

5. That strange "USA surrender" event bug keeps coming up for reasons yet unknown. I'll look into it again for the next release.

Thanks for reporting, glad you enjoy the game.

I'll try to get the next update ready for the coming weekend. Haven't done anything lately because of lack of feedback. :P

how many collapse points do countries get before they completly surrender? I.E. the central powers, austro hungary, germany, otommans etc.?

@Rick402: A nation that has amassed 10 or more collapse points will lose morale and manpower as it loses its internal stability though it might be able to go on for a while until it totally breaks down.

Under certain conditions having 10 or more collapse points also exposes a nation to the dangers of SUDDEN DEATH, instantly removing it from the game due the people’s yearning for peace.

For more details see manual page 2-5.

ANOTHER QUESTION HERE, YA IM PLAYING AS THE CENTRAL POWERS AND I CANnot FOR THE LIFE OF ME DEFEAT THE rUSSIANS, ONCE THEY JOIN THE WAR ITS OVER, they juast destroy all my momentum on the west front, then i get them to a holding point and then there is nothing. im like come on man WTF? this game is so hard, can you help. should i play the base game then add potzblitz mod? granted i never realy played the vanilla game. but dammn, its like the russians are OP. can you give me some tips maybe make a playthrough on youtube, or a detailed memo on how to win and beat the Ai I CANT GET OUT OF 1914 WITHOUT germany or AustroHun having like 5 or more collapse points due to food shortages or from them taking all Major cities in the East between Ger and AH.

@Ricke402: You should definitely have played the vanilla game a bit more to get more experience and confidence. My mod is designed for CTGW veteran players that can beat the vanilla game even with self-imposed handicaps.

About Russia:

1.
I always send 1 or 2 Reserve Corps from the west to the east early enough so they can dig in between Lotzen and Thorn with General Prittwitz occupying Lotzen.
As soon as possible build 2 more Reserve Corps and either 1 Army Corps or 2 Cavalry Corps for an early counter-attack. You will have to counter-attack at some point before the Russians research Industrial Warfare or winter falls. I also retreat Austrian troops back to Lemberg with General Brudermann's Cavalry Corps joining the Germans at around Posen but making sure that Przemysl will be defended.

2.
To stop the Russians you will have to make the battle of Tannenberg happen as soon as possible: kill 1 Russian army Corps or 2 Russian Reserve/Cavalry corps.
If you were lucky you received German General Von Francois before, he can help you fulfill that condition. Usually the AI will make some blunder south of Osovetz that you can exploit to make Tannenberg happen. Watch out for a possible Russian breakthrough to Posen however!

3.
After Tannenberg you have a chance to draw the "Max Hoffmann" special event that will help you to heavily damage/destroy 1 Russian unit. If you time that event properly you can use this to either break out of East Prussia towards Kovno or even capture Warsaw in 1914. Capturing Warsaw in 1914 will however slow you down as you will have difficulty to defend it.

4.
If you can't get Tannenberg done, you can bring General Von Hindenburg from retirement by choosing the corresponding special event. This will however deny you the "Max Hoffmann" event for that game.

5.
If you put some INFLUENCE (see manual page 14) into Sweden before the Russians attack, you have a chance to draw the "GERMAN-SWEDISH ALLIANCEs" special event: Sweden joins CP for extra troops.

6.
If you put some INTEL (see manual page 15) into Russia before the Russians attack, you have a chance to draw the "INTERCEPT RUSSIAN WIRELESS" special event: German troops will enjoy a combat bonus for a short time.

7.
Try to get the Ottomans into the war early enough. The Russians will relocate quite some troops to the Caucasus, relieving pressure from the Eastern front.
To get the Ottomans into war you must choose the "Kaiser's Gold" event as soon as possible before the Entente has the chance to play the counter-event "Ottoman warships". Then play "Battlecruiser SMS Goeben" event to spawn Goeben in the West Mediterranean Sea and rush it to Constantinople. If possible play the "Dardanelles Closed" event too and then "Shelling of Sevastopol". This will bring Turkey into the war in 1914.

8.
If all else fails, you will have to wait for the "Russian Supply Crisis" event to take place in 1915 which will paralyze and weaken the Russian army. Some players manage to roll up the whole Russian front before the Crisis is over making Russia ripe for revolution via the "Lenin" event or outright surrender.

Holy crap. You guys are good. I'm no where near you guys strategic mindset. Yes I always just build reserve and army corps. Should be building Cav as well. I went back through last night and was going over the manual, um ya I should be looking at that more thoroughly cause I need to invest in Intel more, I might play one more playthrough on the mod then switch back to vanilla. But switching back is not fun, cause there is so much Shiny stuff in the mod. Ah well thank you for the reply, and ya I love this game, even though it drives me nuts with anger at times, many of times I've rage quit!

I mean I have done just about all you've said in those tips. I've had the battle of tannenberg. But just cant seem to get the Russians out of east Prussia. Do you guys spend a lot of PP on Arty ammo per turn, or just stockpile it up. Cause I tend to save it up then do minor offensives, versus major ones. Idk maybe my tactics are the issue, but either way this game is tough. Thank you for making an Amazing mod!

No, because without those events Ottomans would probably have joined the war very late or not at all.

Ah I see. So ya I went ahead and uninstalled mode. Back to the vanilla game. Well its 1 April 1915(Vanilla/base game) and well I've pretty much defeated Russia, took Warsaw to turns ago. And have 1army corp, 3 reserve corps, armored train, and cav plus q garrison on brest_litovsk, encircled. Italy just joined, and Serbia is about to be beat. The western front is trench as was in ww1. I took Brussels in 1914 but not Antwerp, so ya, see the base/vanilla game is ready, and I have it on balanced, my high seas fleet has kept them from really killing my convoys and my 4/5 subs is really killing them. I know I can play the game just fine. Your mod just kicks my ass. What you think I should try? Maybe Entente on your mod?
