The intense sci-fi 4X game Pandora: First Contact is going to be available on Steam in a few hours! To celebrate this event, developers Proxy-Studios are releasing a brand FREE expansion called Return of the Messari.

This add-on features the arrival of the Messari, a new alien faction who return to Pandora in the later stage of the game. This ancient civilization benefits from advanced weapons and can easily spoil your day! The Messari will target the stronger factions as a priority which has interesting effects on the balance of power on Pandora. As a result you will have to integrate these troublemakers into your strategy so as not to become the focal point of this fearsome invasion.

We are delighted to announce that this expansion is totally FREE! So you will be able to download this exciting new content for no extra cost whatever you bought the base game from Steam or from our online stores.

To download the expansion, you have to run the "Check for Update" tool via the game menu.

Get Pandora: First Contact from the official Steam product page. The pre-order program will end in a couple of hours so it's high time to take benefit from the current 10% discount!

Already own Pandora: First Contact? Redeem your free Steam key here or click here for instructions on how this works.

Keep up with our news and chat with other Steam users via our Steam Community Group.

Empires Apart Dev Diary - The goal of the game

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

In our previous dev diaries we focused on the different available game modes, as well as the design behind the UI. Today we are going to cover a number of different subjects, but all have something in common: why we decided to make Empires Apart.

It’s no secret that we drew heavy inspiration from games that marked our childhood: Age of Empires, Empire Earth, and others. We wanted to bring back that feeling, the familiar atmosphere of games we loved, but also add our own touch, as well as modernize the formula, bring it to 2018’s standards. Empires Apart is, basically, the game we wanted to play.

Desert War Mechanicics .Shock Explained

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

“Everyone was talking and chatting, when slowly came into sight the first tank I ever saw.  Not a monster but a very graceful machine with beautiful lines….  Here was the missing tool of penetration, the answer to the dominance on the battlefield of small-arms fire.”—J.F.C. Fuller

Matrix Games/Slitherine’s upcoming release of Brian Kelly’s Desert War 1940-42 uses a simple game mechanic often found in WWII board games.  It gives tank units a “special place” in the player’s toolbox—a positive shift to the combat force ratio if attacking, and the opposite when defending.  Coming up short of attack factors?  No problem!  Throw in some tanks.  A 1 to 1 attack can become a 2 to 1, 3 to 1, 4 to 1, etc.  In Desert War 1940
