25th February 2008 - Commander Napoleon at War Announced!

THE COMMANDER SERIES EXPANDS TO THE NAPOLEONIC ERA

SLITHERINE ANNOUNCES COMMANDER: NAPOLEON AT WAR

After the surprising success of World War II hex-based strategy game Commander: Europe at War, Slitherine is pleased to announce the extension of the franchise to a new and even more challenging historical setting with Commander: Napoleon at War.

www.slitherine.com/games/cnaw/

The first in the series of high level turn based strategy games, Commander: Europe at War launched in July 2007 and, since then has received a wide array of stunning reviews from all over the world. It is now considered as one of the benchmark titles in the genre and has been translated into more than 10 languages.

'We are very pleased with how Commander: Europe at War did in the market', said Iain McNeil, Development Director of Slitherine. 'It was our first release under the Kameleon Project brand, and we are happy to have proved we can help small independent developers, not only by completing and releasing their games, but also by making them a success story in the marketplace'.

Commander: Napoleon at War is the second game in the Commander series and is in development by Commander: Europe at War’s original developer Firepower Entertainment and historical games developer The Lordz Games Studio. Both studios are working under the Kameleon Project umbrella.

'Commander: Napoleon at War will not be re-inventing the strategic approach of its predecessor', continues Iain McNeil. 'We want to adapt the gameplay to the different war mechanics and troop movements of the Napoleonic era but keep the same fresh and simple gameplay approach that is easy to learn, but hard to master. Also thanks to the support of an ever growing community of fans, Commander: Europe at War has evolved into a great gaming experience and so we don't want to change too much of it'.

30th January 2008 - Field of Glory Miniatures!

SLITHERINE PARTNERS WITH WARGAMES FACTORY TO RAISE ARMIES FOR THE FIELD OF GLORY™ MINIATURE WARGAMING RULES

Field of Glory™, the new ancient and medieval wargaming rules from Slitherine Strategies and Osprey Publishing will be supported by a full range of plastic multi-part miniature figures from Wargames Factory.

Wargames Factory is launching an extensive new line of plastic box sets to support the Field of Glory™ game. The first releases will be Late Republican Romans (the Legions of Julius Caesar) and Celts. The miniatures will be available in 48-figure box sets for $29.95 and will feature a variety of separate arms, heads, shields, and body types for maximum customization. The company is committed to an aggressive release schedule that will allow Field of Glory™ players to deploy armies from all the eras featured in the game. More details can be found at www.wargamesfactory.com

Wargames Factory CEO Tony Reidy explains the genesis of the relationship: “When we first became aware of the Field of Glory™ rules and saw the high-quality production values that Slitherine and Osprey were bringing to them, we knew that they would be the perfect fit for our new line of hard plastic multi-part miniatures. In speaking with the team at Slitherine, we quickly realized that this was a rules system that cried out for a complimentary range of miniature armies. Wargames Factory is the first company to focus on hard plastic miniatures in 28mm (Wargames Standard 1/56th scale) for the historical market and we believe these sets, in partnership with this great new rules system, will revolutionize tabletop gaming.”

JD McNeil, Director of Slitherine, said: “Creating Field of Glory has been a tremendous challenge and we are now thrilled to see the ruleset coming together. The opportunity of working with Wargames Factory, an emerging force in historical miniatures production, has brought a new dimension to the whole project. Their accurately modeled range will certainly complement Field of Glory.”

What is Field of Glory™?

Field of Glory™ is a wargaming rules system that uses model figures and terrain to recreate the great battles of the ancient and medieval world, written by some of the biggest names in the wargaming community, including the co-author of the popular DBM rules, Richard Bodley Scott. 24th January 2008 - Field of Glory Sales Take Off

New rules set to exceed all expectations

It is now only a matter of weeks until Field of Glory, the new ancient and medieval wargaming rules set from Slitherine Strategies and Osprey Publishing is released. It will be available in UK stores from the 11th February and across the USA on the 19th February and the pre-orders have been flooding in across all trade channels.

Osprey Marketing Director, Richard Sullivan elaborates: “From our first discussions with Slitherine we knew that the market was ready for the rules they have developed and that Field of Glory would be popular but we have been overwhelmed with both the level of excitement we have seen and the number of pre-orders that have already been received.”

The rules will be available across the spectrum, from high-street stores and hobby shops to on-line outlets, large and small.

What is Field of Glory?
Field of Glory is a wargaming rules system that uses model figures and terrain to recreate the great battles of the ancient and medieval world, written by some of the biggest names in the wargaming community, including the co-author of the popular DBM rules, Richard Bodley Scott. Field of Glory allows players to use miniatures of any scale to re-fight historical scenarios or create their own “what if” battles.

Iain McNeil, Technical and Design Director of Slitherine, explains further: “One of the great aspects of Field of Glory is that it can be used to reconstruct battles like Cannae or Hastings, but will still allow players to use any of the armies from their collections and play out anachronistic match-ups such as Vikings versus Ancient Egyptians. Our expanding player base has already lined up a number of tournaments worldwide, so we are certain that Field of Glory is off to a great start”.

Continuing Support
Along with the main rulebook, February will also see the release of the first two companion books, Rise of Rome and Storm of Arrows. These books, which are the first of many, focus on specific time periods or geographical regions in the ancient and medieval world, giving historical overviews and comprehensive army lists for all of the major and minor powers. The game is also backed by a newly launched website www.fieldofglory.com, which contains an already vibrant forum, news, announcements, competitions, and online game support.

Slitherine’s Business Development Director JD McNeil says; “Field of Glory will be a living, breathing system, continuously supported by new print products as well as a vigorous online community. We fully believe that Field of Glory will soon become a leader in the historical wargaming field.”
