24th April 2007 - New Slitherine site goes live!

Welcome to the new look www.slitherine.com! We hope you like the new look - we certainly do

The aim of the new site is to make all the important information easier to access. We are also building a site for the future to allow us to do a host of new things that would not have been possible with the old site. This is a major update for us so we're fixing a number of glitches in the system. If you find any problems please report them to us through the forum and we'll fix them as soon as possible.

To log in to the forum you will need to re-enter your username and password. You may find you have to refresh the page to force it to load the new version. If you are still having problems logging in after trying both these solution you should try and delete your temporary internet files using the IE tools.

If you have forgotten your password you can have it reset and sent out to you on the log in screen. Then when you log back in you can set the password to anything you like. We apologise for any inconvenience but there have been some radical changes to the sites structure and there was no way to avoid it.

2nd April 2007 - Commander Developer Diary Update

This month has been focused on fixing the scripts for balancing the technology, units, commanders and terrain of the game. A lot of time also went into the AI programming. Some interesting major improvements to AI are;
* The AI is now capable of handling large scale naval invasions.
* The AI now tries to reconquer lost Major countries meaning Allies will tend to try get France back hence gives a natural way for them to initiate D-Day once some parameters are met.
* The AI now sends reinforcements across the map to protect their land, making the AI more reactive to the opponent and more intelligent.

Another big task this month has been fixing stability, flaws and bugs that the beta testers have done a great job in finding. We seem to have crossed a threshold and the number of bugs being found is falling and for the first time feel like the bugs are under control. The TCP/IP mode has also been tested (I've been trying quite a few games of that myself to be honest) with a goal of having it very stable before we release the game.

Also, some time was spent integrating missing art and finishing some screens that were not done yet. All basic screens are finished in game now, which means from now on, we have a bit of time to add the "nice to have extras" as nothing crucial missing. We are still on track to complete the game in the first half of the year, as we have been saying officially ;)
