Re: A question for RBS & chums...

This is something I'd also be interested in...but for me, such a "simplified" game would still need to include some kind of basic economy/production and diplomacy, so I'm not sure how simple it would end up being.

Re: Please don't make me come and get you.

I agree that we shouldn't be making any significant changes to the game solely to "enhance" the experience in leagues and tournaments. In my experience, for general MP games this is not a significant issue, because people select (or agree to accept) the army match ups when they create or accept the ...

Re: Please don't make me come and get you.

My problem is not that the infantry can't chase down and defeat horse archers, it's that they are expected to do so. Every FoG2 campaign requires you win your battles to progress, vast majority of the battles require you to defeat your enemy to win it. Defeating horse archers armies, as required by...

Re: Please don't make me come and get you.

It's definitely historical that Horse Archers armies are hard to beat on operational level but it doesn't work that great in the context of a game that focuses on open field battles and where victory is required and determined by the amount of routed units. I don't agree that cavalry armies need to...

Re: Please don't make me come and get you.

Well, that map is a perfect example of why I almost never play Mountain maps; Mountain maps should have lots of rough terrain and favor armies with medium foot and lots of skirmishers. Instead, they generally feature a narrow, flat plain between impassable terrain, perfect for heavy foot armies.

Nope, standard MP.

Could you please send details of the games to support and they can try and recover them to their pre-outage states.
Will do...but send the details where exactly?

Multiplayer game weirdness

I had two multiplayer games going on...one was my turn, one was the opponents turn. The one that was my turn is now my opponent's turn without me playing a turn, and the one that was the opponent's turn (which was in the early stages) is now over. When I click on the completed game to see the result...

5. Player Stance (defensive, offensive). Generally can be determined where the first melee clashes happen. 6. Terrain of first contact. This is the type of terrain where most of the battle line fist meet in melee. Interesting idea, but I would scratch the two factors above: --In most of my games at...

I would think that any raw troops would be especially vulnerable to cats--it must have taken extensive training to keep men from cowering, if not fleeing, when charged by huge armored horses...

Re: suggestion : more RALLIED UNITS with events on the battlefield ?

Very frustrating, because in those games i didnt get any rallies from broken at all. This is not actually completely random, because certain armies (ie, Roman) tend not to break until they auto-break (after which there is no chance to rally) while other armies tend to break more easily and thus hav...

Re: suggestion : more RALLIED UNITS with events on the battlefield ?

I certainly don't think the ability for troops to rally should be enhanced. Is there a historical precedent? While I agree with you that units that have already broken should not be easier to rally, I do think that certain circumstances should allow units which are about to break to rally (actually...

Re: suggestion : more RALLIED UNITS with events on the battlefield ?

They aren’t counting towards the winning %, they are counting towards their army not breaking so soon. Yes Richard, I know how it works, but the point is that they count when calculating the percentages for victory even though they generally contribute nothing--and cannot contribute anything--to th...

Re: suggestion : more RALLIED UNITS with events on the battlefield ?

The problem even with the current amount of rallying is that the rallied units count towards the victory percentage but in practice they rarely have time to contribute or even return to the front. Effect on victory percentage is especially silly when an unit rallies in a faraway forest where no-one...

Re: Cataphracts : Rework Needed ?

Shock cavalry against medium foot does seem underwhelming regardless though. I mean irregular foot losing only 1 in 5 times on impact seems a bit low Agreed. Disciplined heavy foot is one thing, but irregular foot is something else. If cats can't be counted on to smash irregular foot pretty regular...

Also maybe increase odds for rallying (or maybe even instant rally) if a disrupted or fragmented unit wins a melee. Not implausible that they could "get their mojo back" if they stick it to the enemy.
