Re: FoG II Terrain for Medieval! (UPDATED 2/6/2021) 9:30AM
Wow, mod looks great, congrats. I don't have Medieval yet, and am not sure I'll get it (medieval is not my thing), but if I do the first thing I'll do is install your mod.

Re: Please Name Some Books!
I just finished the book by France which I mentioned above--it is very good. Next up for me is The Greatest Knight , about William Marshal: https://www.amazon.com/Greatest-Knight-Remarkable-William-Marshal/dp/0062262068/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=the+greatest+knight&qid=1609566423&sr=8-1 Sounds pr...

Re: I am not a fan of the terrain art
@76mm: Wow I really think the graphics in Pike and Shot are well done! If you didn’t know, you can also play top down view ;) I went to the Matrix store to look at some pike & shot screenshots, but there weren't any...for P&S Campaigns there are a couple, but all of them are zoomed out on the tacti...

Re: I am not a fan of the terrain art
Indeed i love it, considering the engine from Pike and Shot, Sengoku jidai and FOG 2 i love the attention from the developers to "portrait", or well maybe better "to paint" the game to let the player jump inside that age of the game. So in pike and shot i played on a page book from the "the art of ...

Re: I am not a fan of the terrain art
While it's clearly purely a matter of personal taste, I also much prefer the look of the original FOG2 terrain; in fact I think that the FOG2 maps are some of the best wargame maps I've ever used (and the map generator is probably the best). Rather sorry that we'll be taking what is (in my view) a s...

Re: Please Name Some Books!
OK, I'll even start! I just started a book, but it seems pretty good: Western Warfare in the Age of the Crusades: 1000-1300 by John France.
I'm also tempted by the Smails book, but would rather read something interesting about European warfare in the period, rather than Crusades...

Please Name Some Books!
I'm trying to get excited about the release of FOG2 Medieval, but generally this is a period which has held very little interest for me, other than the Crusades. I've read quite a bit about the Crusades, but the little I've read about this period in Europe have failed to generate much interest. And ...

Re: Field of Glory 2: Medieval - Out on February 4th
What's with all the lists ending in 1319? It seems a bit odd that so many apparently unrelated factions end in 1319, especially when the game only goes to 1270!

Re: Damage miscalculation
It sounds like you're talking exclusively about ranged fire (ie, shooting)? Richard will have to speak up for his rationale for this particular issue, but based on my experience on this forum, everything in this game is thought through rather well and Richard will have a very good reason for this de...

Re: Gotta be a bug
It is, however, worth mentioning that all of the Patch Notes since the game was released are in one file - PatchNotes.rtf in the main folder of the build. So at least you don't have to trawl back through forum posts. OK, that is helpful, but even so the number of accumulated changes by now really m...

Re: Gotta be a bug
o Non-light troops will no longer turn to face light troops in close combat if the enemy would then be able to flank/rear charge them with a non-light unit on his next turn. This is a significant change that I wasn't aware of. I hope that stuff like this will be incorporated into an updated manual ...

Re: Very frustrated...
Thanks for the replies. Busy for now with other stuff, but hope to come back to the game soon. One more question: Is there any way to gain progress tokens other than by occupying objective regions assigned by the computer?

Re: Very frustrated...
You posted that you were playing as Rome, so are your troops well-trained with the best gear? Are you using the best ranged units for the terrain? When this fiasco started, my army was very experienced and twice as large as the German force, although it was presumably too heavily-weighted towards h...

Re: Very frustrated...
OK, one immediate question: Generally combat seems to work OK, but sometimes I encounter an army that I just can't beat under any circumstances. For instance: 1) I can't seem to beat a 2-2 general, no matter what. I can outnumber them by more than 2x, no help. There seems to be no concept of attriti...

Re: Very frustrated...
You can check these guides here. I would suggest you read the beginner tips guide and also the one on Decadence! https://steamcommunity.com/app/1011390/guides/ I checked Steam before, but most of the guides seem focused on particular issues (buildings, etc,),but apparently I need more general guida...

Re: Aging Tokens??
You have to search the manual for "ageing", which is the British spelling. Thanks. But still is only one mention of "ageing tokens" in the manual, and four of "ageing". All of them generally describe the effect of ageing, but no details... This is the only mention of "ageing tokens": " All states w...

Very frustrated...
I've played three games as Rome now, all of them have played out about the same--great until about turn 100, then a stalemate of "whack-a-mole" with rebelling regions and declarations of war until about turn 130, then the wheels come off. I've read the manual a couple of times now, no help. Some ene...

Aging Tokens??
I bought this game recently but so far have found it pretty frustrating. Bad things seem to happen when I collect "aging tokens", but these tokens are not found in the manual. At all. Not helpful. In my current game I got my first "aging token" (whatever it is) on Turn 1, and had my second by Turn 3.
