Re: Order of Battle thoughts and musings, good and bad

I loved OOB Pacific. For me it went downhill from there. Morning Sun was boring (I just tried again and soon discovered why I never finished it the first time), Winter war an exercise in frustration. I'm sorry, but I won't be bying Blitzkrieg. The things I read here only are unlikely to change that....

Problems with AA units

1. How do you move an anti-aircraft unit to the same hex as the enemy airplane? When you hover your mouse over that hex and the aircraft is in firing range, you only have the option to shoot at it. 2. More serious: how do you stop a transported AA unit from automatically swithching to AT-modus durin...

Re: Is Winter War better than Morning Sun?

I love those type of battles. I always thought there were fare too few of them in Panzer General or Panzer Corps.

Thanks for the advice.

Is Winter War better than Morning Sun?

I loved the first OOB game. I bought the two expansions without reservation. But US Marines was rather repetitive. And Morning Sun was even boring. I couldn't bring myself to finish the whole campaign. Was it bad scenario design, the wrong subject matter (Chino-Japanese war) of the missing naval com...

Same problem.

Playing as the US in the Midway scenario of the Pacific campaign.

Re: Elite Replacements: worth it yet?

Mojko, we're asking because we had found out earlier that elite replacements weren't really worth their cost for infantry and even less so for air units (unless you have an abundance of resources from mid-campaign on). http://slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=65075 I'm not sure if any of the patc...

I haven't found a way. Unlike AT/Art etc, the option to change to another stance appears only after placing it on the map. But it can't be placed at all since this campaign doesn't have naval core units.

Amphibious tanks listed as naval units - problem

I'm playing the Marines expansion. Amphibious tanks come in handy. But if they finish a scenario on a sea hex, they get listed as naval units in the next scenario. This means they can't be deployed anymore and are in fact lost.

I'd like to know as well. Because in the Marine Corps expansion resources are very scarce.

Re: The brains behind the game and campaign scenarios?

I agree. The Pacific scenarios are an example of great design.

I'm not so enthusiastic about the Morning Sun scenarios. But the designers had little to work with there. Perhaps the Sino-Japanese war wasn't the best idea for a campaign.

I agree. Leader effects are hardly noticable. Just as experience. Pity. Both could add a lot of colour to the game.

Re: Fantastic game - here's my first impressions

I think Rezaf hits the nail on the head. I also love this game and can't wait for DLC's. But it often lacks "colour". Effect from experience are hardly noticable, leaders don't do much, specializations are underwhelming. I would add that some unit types (subs, recce, heavy bombers, ... are all but u...

To me, this is the most interesting choice in the game. Flight School is g...

Re: Order of Battle Pacific is Updated to Version 1.7.0!

I also noticed the achievements for winning a campaign were now implemented.

Any chance the bug in the US Coral Sea sea scenario where you couldn't complete the secondary "destroy all aircraft" objective was fixed? Just asking because I'm now close to that scenario in my US campaign.

Sonar wirkt nur wenn das U-boot bewegt or geschossen hat. Detektion und angriff sind dann nur möglich wenn sie eine einheit zu seine position schickt. Kreuzen macht nichts.

Re: Suggestion: Increase effect of Experience

Particularly but not limited to air and naval units which do not retreat and so get none of the "lower casualties during retreats" bonuses. Even for infantry, higher casualties for inexperienced units are no problem if these only cost a fraction of the elite units. And the "survivability" doesn't m...

Re: Does experience affect air combat much? At all?

Thanks, Profi. That's very disappointing as well. This all makes elite replacements rather pointless. After all, if elite units can't deliver on the battelfield, it also means their "survivability" isn't worth much either. Just buy a new unit. It's cheaper to buy a new infantry unit than to replenis...

Re: Does experience affect air combat much? At all?

Thank you, Horst. Seems to confirm what I suspected. Hardly any effect. 4 stars difference to go from 2+/3 to 3/2+. Don't forget the 4 star aircraft will pay 4 times the cost in resources to have its losses replaced. It seems a much better policy to always use regular replacements and to save resour...
