Re: Rules of the WTC

No I setup a game and sent an email to Frederic02 (the second round game) but he hasn't responded yet. Having to wait until a round finishes before you start your next game disadvantages those players from the southern hemisphere, who often can only play one or two turns a day against someone from t...

Re: Rules of the WTC

Just finished my third round game, with a victory over corner sitting. My opponent stayed on his hill so I had to come at him. My cavalry didn't do so well on my right flank but rallied enough to keep me in the game. On my left flank, my opponent's unwillingness to come off his hill allowed me plent...

Re: Podcast on the history of wargaming: FOG2 is his favourite

He does mention it by name, but only once. Yes it's mostly an interview with a game designer, but that's the second part of the programme, you can miss that part. It sounds like Fury of War is not a simple first person shooter, you have to work in a team of up to 50 players and if you die, you get p...

Re: Principles of Defensive Play

I find there usually isn't enough space for the entire army to act defensively. I recently put half my army on a hill in a nice formation - light bows on the steep slopes with massed bows or other infantry on the rough ground above. This just meant that my opponent was able to concentrate on the oth...

Re: Near Perfect - Thanks, Richard!

Still hoping for FOG2 Fantasy and the Lord of the Rings/Hordes of the Things mod (somebody has to make the 3D models first though). Seriously, it continues to amaze me how balanced the game is and how the suspense can build through a game, with the result being on a knife edge right to the end, part...

Re: WTC TEAMS & ARMIES

OK I do see that option now, sorry. Forcing players to play pot luck armies could be unfair as some armies are very limited in their choices and only have average or below average troops. Also, you have to allow players to play using armies they like if they are to stick with the competition even if...

Re: WTC TEAMS & ARMIES

There is no "With Samnite Allies" option. It should read "with Bruttian or Lucanian 420-203 BC Allies". This applies to both the Carthaginian and the Pyrrhic armies.

Also, you can't have Carthaginian 262 BC with "Greek 280 BC - 490 AD Allies"

Re: Quick Questions Thread on Rules

Only average or below average morale units break at half strength. Units that are above average, superior, etc need to loose more than half strength to autobreak.

Re: Quick Questions Thread on Rules

Thanks thats clear, though it would be better if it was published in the manual, or at least in the patch notes, otherwise someone might mistakenly join a general to it in a hopeless vain attempt to rally. True. Although even if they could rally, that would be a pretty daft thing to do as they woul...

Does this mean we are one step closer to a Lord of the Rings mod for FOG2?

Re: Rules of the WTC

I have never met one of these corner sitters and if I did I would regard it as as a challenge where they are giving me the initiative and allowing me to win. OK I played one game where my opponent setup on a hill with woods at the side and I had an Armenian army. What did I do? Moved the cataphracts...

Some players might not know that, but if you don't have "threaten flank" modifier on enemy cav
That modifier only applies to medium and heavy infantry

Re: Rules of the WTC

If I choose to play an early Thracian army, I'm in period 1 and I only play armies up to 100 BC, right? I don't end up fighting medieval knights? So do I need to have FOG Medieval installed, as I haven't bought it yet?

Re: Australian Teams' communication

What level of exposure? SPF factor 50 needed, definitely!! I think we should go all the way to the top and get a letter from the Prime Minister at least :D It seems in Victoria the state government paid for a technical high school to have a gaming classroom setup with a a room full of powerful PCs -...
