Artifacts are "unwrapped" by clicking a question mark on the left of ship's interface (if the ship has a container). Might not work in presence of enemy ships.

You can build the satellite somewhere else, disassemble, transport to that system and assemble it there. I usually wouldn't make it a priority though.

Caster of Magic isn't a DLC. I'd suggest not to buy it at all, but if you really want to you don't need Steam to install it.

The defending side is given the preparation stage. The attacking side starts "as is", except ships with Hyperjump Control Module (late technology).

There is a parameter AllowBuildingAutoDestructionForPlayer in the config file - seems to be set to true by default. You can change it to false if you know where your config file is and how to edit it (otherwise I suggest to don't try).

in comparison of say a planet with 15.0 metal and a minus 5% "bonus" and a planet with 8 metal and positive 25% bonus which is the more profitable planet? My expectations are quite low. Than I hear "Slitherine" I think "casualized gaming", and casualizing will kill the MoM. Happy to be wrong in this case.
