Hits from firing

This may have been covered but the search function keeps timing out, and it's also possible that it will be clarified/changed in 2nd edition, but... On page 54, in the 'Result of firing' table, the result for 1 or 2 hits is split, with one saying 'CMT to advance' and the other 'Cavalry and any waver...

Re: Breaking off in the JAP

Thanks Dave That's what we were doing based on the general comment at the start of the 'Breaking off' section on page 106, but, in all fairness, that isn't explicitly covered in the actual rules, and someone used to FOGR may put a different interpretation on it But now we've been guided we'll adhere...

Re: Autobreak

Hi Christopher Thanks once again for the clarifications, particularly that units rout in the JAP even if they've already made an initial rout move - I think we've been using the FOGR mechanic which, from memory, is that you only rout in the JAP if you haven't already made an initial rout move in an ...

Re: Routers & pursuers

Hi Dave, thanks once again At the risk of going on ad nauseum about routers, the 'no VMD roll' and 2 base width slide appears in the first bullet point on page 108 which seems to continue the last bullet point on page 107 which specifies 'not in contact with enemy' whereas the second bullet point on...

Breaking off in the JAP

I think I may have been misreading this... Page 106, Breaking off, second paragraph, bullet points three scenarios where units cannot break off and then goes on to say that mounted troops must break off against 50%+ formed foot Does this mean that every type of unit not proscribed by the three bulle...

Re: Autobreak

Hi Christopher Thanks for coming back The JAP doesn't actually refer to autobreaks, only 'BGs that are broken and at of below 50% original strength' (which is going to cover average and poor but not necessarily superior/elite for autobreak purposes) - in this instance I'd read 'broken' as 'routing' ...

Autobreak

Autobreak on page 116 says that battle groups which have reached their autobreak level are removed from play If a unit autobreaks whilst in base contact with an enemy unit should it make a rout move first? And if so, and the enemy unit remains in contact, is the autobroken unit still removed or shou...

Re: Routers & pursuers

Hi Dave and thanks for the clarifications Looking at point 1, on page 108, second bullet point says 'Broken troops in contact with the enemy at the start of this phase move again using the same rules as for their initial rout move:', which is where my confusion arose For point 2, just to close it do...

Routers & pursuers

Couple of questions if someone could oblige... 1. Routers broken on contact in the impact phase: in their initial rout phase routers move directly away from units in base contact. As the phasing player conforming to enemy groups in contact comes in the movement phase does the broken unit conform to ...

Re: BG firing long and short range

Thanks for clarifying - we'd figured it was firing by file but it's always nice to have it confirmed

Re: BG firing long and short range

OK, so slightly different situation: EEEE EEEE MPM E:enemy base; M: Musket; P:Pike Left hand enemy BG is just to the left of the pike, right hand enemy BG just to the right of the pike. Both enemy BG just inside short range Left hand BG is out of arc for right hand muskets because it is within short...
