Re: Against Top Level AI

Winter War is very different from most campaigns. Pretty good, but much lower tech overall. Not much by way of tanks, artillery etc. I also went for a heavy infantry focus (with a couple of snow troopers) as it is most reliable source of ranged attack. I strongly recommend against tacs but in this c...

Re: Against Top Level AI

Hello, Recently acquired OOB. Thought I would see how challenging the game plays with the AI at the hardest level. Has anyone else had success at this level? Any clues on strategy? Since I actually play on the hardest difficulty I will give you some actual advice. IDK why people who don't are posti...

Re: Soviet Union

Play through Soviet Corps and you'll understand what I mean. The only reason this game didn't get the reaction COH2 did when it launched a similarly offensive Soviet campaign is not nearly so many people play it. Shades of Enemy at the Gates yet again. US Corps is quite long, well designed and a lot...

Re: Soviet Union

FM owners have 2 free dlc that will be released in 2020 ... so we can hope they will be Soviet and Allied campaigns... In fact Soviet Corps is least popular in Panzer Corps 1. I wouldn't be shocked given how badly designed it is and how deeply offensive and frankly racist the mission briefings are....

Re: OOB & Panzer Corps 1 - Strikingly Similar

I remember trying to use heavy tanks in Burma. They got bogged down because jungles were everywhere. They would still lose efficiency on roads, if memory serves. Light tanks are much better, having the light tread trait, whatever its called. Heavy tanks are only really viable on open, non-efficienc...

Re: Maps seem a bit flat

Weather is always shown in the top right, current weather and the next days. Weather type is indicated by the icon, sunny, cloudy, raining, snowing, stormy. And the colour suggests the ground state - green = clear, brown=muddy, white=thick snow, blue=thick snow and frozen lakes/rivers. City names i...

Re: Any decent youtubers previewing PzC2?

I mean, some of the tactics I can demonstrate are probably going to make people's head spin. But I'm under NDA so I can't show/discuss them at this point, sorry. :) Point is, I still don't think it's reasonable to expect gamers to instantly play this game like pros. The only people with enough expe...

He's awful. It's rare to see such an incompetent player tbh. It'd be fine if he actually had some historical knowledge but no.

Re: Gaz 4M is bugged (and also awesome)

Personally, I think it makes sense. Remember, each truck has 4 Maxim machine guns. Those trucks were probably quite numerous, probably 50 or more in a battalion. 200 Maxim MGs. Along with that, they have a high mobility. I do agree, it shouldn’t have any range. By that inane logic all infantry shou...

And... no. Not even 1% interested. I want to move pixel-tanks that go pew-pew, not pretend I kill millions of Jews. What an abhorrent idea. https://store.steampowered.com/app/454530/Decisive_Campaigns_Barbarossa/ Neat straw man, but not what I suggested as anyone who played the game would know. It'...

Gaz 4M is bugged (and also awesome)

Gaz 4M AA truck is pretty garbage as an AA piece. But if you put it into direct fire mode it becomes a really great range 2 artillery piece that hits for 2+ damage against most infantry! I'm now picturing this truck with 4x Maxims strapped to it gunning down everything in its path like some sort of ...

Re: Maps seem a bit flat

I'm very comfortable with OOB2 and have beaten Soviet, Burma and the US Campaign on diff 5. The hill terrain is indistinguishable from most flat terrain types absent detailed inspection of the hex. In some places the hill terrain decorators are even used on flat terrain! The PzC2 map clearly differe...

And? Decisive Campaigns Barbarossa is also a hex based strategy game (and a very good one) that happens to also ask the player to get involved with some of the actual decisions made by Nazi leaders during the war. And... no. Not even 1% interested. I want to move pixel-tanks that go pew-pew, not pr...

Re: Agonizingly slow load time from saves

If it's a file load time issue that grows as time passes one possibility is poor or inconsistent file handler cleanup. This is a common and often overlooked issue. Another is memory leak. Both can be fixed by hooking up a profiler, leaving the game on for a while and then attempting a load. If it's ...

Re: Germans always lose

It's pretty silly that they can win the war. It'd make more sense to have them aiming for a better than historical outcome. That's probably set in stone at this point though. It'd be kinda neat to see some Decisive Campaigns Barbarossa style moral dilemmas pop up from time to time instead of pure br...

Re: Any decent youtubers previewing PzC2?

I know the feeling re: watching people who seem to have never played an operational war game before. Very frustrating! If the PzC2 team wants to pop me into the YouTube queue I'll start streaming it. I beat US Corps and Soviet Corps on diff 4 so am very experienced at using novel tactics and unit sy...

Re: Maps seem a bit flat

IMO the map is excellent. It clearly conveys most terrain types and looks very much like terrain viewed from an airplane. It is a huge upgrade from PzC1 and OOB (where flat terrain and hills are exactly alike). The units by contrast look awful and very low res, to the point that it is challenging to...

Initiative and Detailed Combat Preview still in?

In PzC 1 there is a complex initiative system that drives who shoots first and therefore how much damage is done by the second firing unit. Is that in PzC2 and does it function the same? In PzC1 there is the option of a detailed combat preview which gives exact information on combat outcomes (varian...

Re: Any decent youtubers previewing PzC2?

Hey OP, this guy is excellent at PzC 1 and is playing well in PzC 2 at max difficulty.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... 5eBIzYS5B-

He makes mistakes but they're driven more by differences between 1 and 2 and the frankly bizarre encirclement rules than anything else.
