We suspect that NBCU, the IP holders of the Battlestar Galactica franchise, have forbidden any modifications to the game,

As such, don't hold your breath for any modding tools.

The camera movement in the battle replay is based on the way the space scenes in the 2003 show were done. Lots of zoom, lots of pan, lots of tiny movement.

This has been done on purpose to capture the same feeling as the show in the game.

The reason the game prevents you from turning your forces pre-deployment is that it would make it entirely too easy to jump in, showing broadside in the perfect formation, able to just chew up the Cylons. There's no hotseat mode to play in multiplayer. You can only play online against another person (which has to have the game installed on a separate computer) and against the AI.

I can only speak for the PC version since I don't know if the console version has different parameters.

However, on the PC, any ship, be it MP, skirmish or campaign, will count. You can kill a 100 in skirmish, 200 in MP and 200 in the campaign and you should still get the trophy.
