Re: AAR 4.0c Morris Axis vs Max Allies

the new Axis Barbarossa is nearly impossible to stop, an easy run up to it and lots of CAV is close to impossible to stop, lots of new thinking required for allies the present game engine is almost balance . I think the only problem is the Cavalvy ! It is quite unreasonable to have such a big group...

Re: Please fix Winter War bugs.

Say, I'd like to try that Google Translator, if I may. Here: Meine Freunde, es gibt nicht genug von uns hier, um unter uns zu kämpfen. I wonder if that translated properly. Would one of you care to translate that back into English for me to see if it did? I will compare it with my original transcri...

Re: Please fix Winter War bugs.

Re: From 'Man on a Pony' back to respectability!

I would like to make two comments here, one on the cavalry, and one on the off-topic discussion: 1. I don't know how you came to the conclusion that Kavallerie would refer exclusively to the Waffen SS units. There were three cavalry divisions of the regular Wehrmacht (1st, 3rd, and 4th). 2. NB: I am...

Re: Blurry and unreadable unit strength plate

[SOLVED] Thanks uran21 for your post, it helped indirectly to solve the problem. The graphic card drivers were NOT the problem in my case, because I had updated them as first measure when the problem occurred. However, I had once more a look at the settings of my Intel HD configuration tool. There i...

Re: Blurry and unreadable unit strength plate

[UPDATE] I managed to install it on another computer (also Win7), no problem there, normal strength plates! However, I cannot use that computer to play the game, because even on lowest settings, it is excruciatingly slow. Which, by the way and totally off-topic, is my biggest complaint: The hardware...

Re: Blurry and unreadable unit strength plate

Hm never seen that one before. Does the size change when you zoom in or out? And what screen resolution are you on? The size remains the same, irrespective of zoom level. However, when I zoom in rapidly, the plate becomes bigger for a split second before getting resized again to the same small size...

Blurry and unreadable unit strength plate

Hi all, searched the forums but found nothing. I have the newest Steam version installed. The unit strength plates are so small and blurry that they are almost unreadable (see attached screenshot, highest rendering setting, maximum zoom level). Especially for planes (remaining airborne turns), this ...

Re: Barbarossa balance in GS 3.1

Hi Stauffenberg, thanks for your detailed reply! I certainly am not an elite GS player, and I realize this contributes to my difficulties in taking Moscow. However, I do not remember many AARs even from elite players in which Moscow was taken in '41. In my opinion, this is because attempting it requ...

Barbarossa balance in GS 3.1

Having played GS 2.x a lot, I took a break but I am still interested in the game. Considering revisiting GS, I wanted to ask whether the single biggest problem (IMHO) has been addressed, or whether you plan to in 3.2, or what your thought on this are. Mind you, I enjoyed GS 2.x a LOT and I greatly r...

Size of maps?

I wonder how big the maps in the player vs AI campaigns are? Let me explain: I enjoy large maps the most, those that give you some options on where to attack and which objectives to pursue (e.g. the Moscow maps from the old original Panzer General), and thereby really require you to plan your offens...

Re: GS v2.10 Installer -- Need Help Checking Out

I just tried the installer on a clean install of MH CEaW Gold 1.12 on a German Win7 machine. There is a bug regarding the target directory: The installer initially chooses the correct target directory (in my case "C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Military History Commander - Europe at War GOLD"), b...

Re: Grand Strategy Update!

I have to admit that it is a bit frustrating - I've been reading about 2.1 for months now. I realize that Slitherine is not going to make much money with CEAW anymore, so it's kind of good will that they support a fan mod through an official installer. But still, some progress would be much apprecia...

Re: Commander - Europe at War or PanzerCorps as my next game

One word of advice on PanzerCorps: It is in no way strategic, sometimes not even tactical, but random thrashing around with units. I have played the original PanzerGeneral and successors a lot, and I was enthusiastic about PanzerCorps, because it adds some new elements that are nice, such as Heroes....

U505 is Typ IXC, so that's indeed big. I might make it to the Chicago area this year, and definitely put that on my todo list! If you ever make it to Northern Germany and have a day to spare, go to Laboe near Kiel. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laboe_Naval_Memorial the only remaining Type VII is the...

Re: Need help with language translations for Rail Depot

If the resource hex is used only to switch between trains of different gauges, it is a "Spurwechselbahnhof" (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnhof#Spurwechselbahnhof). If the meaning of the resource hex is to represent other functions, such as a depot of trains, the crossings of main rail way lines, ...

I would especially support Kerensky's point #1. All other fora I visit have the poster's info left of the actual post. I see no reason why you would want to deviate from this quasi-standard. It makes reading the forum less intuitive.

Well, it seems I am more or less alone with my critique. That doesn't bother me, I expected it after reading through the fora and reviews, although I must admit that I had hoped for some better counter arguments than "shooting is FUN, refueling is BORING" or "didn't like PeG's air combat system" or...
