Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval is coming soon
FOG2 Medieval does use a scaling system to ensure that armies are suitably sized for the historical period and region. Most western feudal armies are scaled to 50% of base unit size, whereas further east some armies use 100% scaling and some (e.g. Mongols) even higher. If two armies with different ...

Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval is coming soon
Good to see Medieval starting to be covered. There are a couple of points I would like to see addressed 1 Adjustable figure scales for custom battles. Medieval battles could involve armies numbering just a few hundred a side to thousands. As opposed to FOG II it would be preferable to select the siz...

Napoleoni Empires?
I think aa Napoleonic version of Empires set between 1790 and 1815 (or somewhat later eg 1830) with a Napoleonic version of FOG II to fight the battles would work extremely well. For me it is the tactical battles that really make or break this kind of game. For this period I would have monthly turns...

Re: A couple of things...
I think FOG Empires is much better than RTW especially with FOG II to fight the tactical battles. Always room for improvement though

Re: Lusitanian Depravity
Depraved leaders could be rather fun. Rome had plenty of them as one example. I agree an assassination/coup feature would be a wonderful addition even if your benevolent and wise ruler could be replaced with be depraved and genocidal maniac. A much greater likelihood when your civilization becomes d...

Re: Is this supposed to happen?
Historically that kind of collapse could and indeed did occur and sometimes suddenly. Consider as an extreme example the Late Bronze Age Collapse or the Fall of the Western Roman Empire. The way Alexander the Great's Empire broke apart into the Successor States. In recent history the break up of the...

Diplomacy and negotiations
It would be good to have more diplomatic detail in this game. I would suggest Trade concessions Offering or demanding tribute territorial concessions ceding or offering regions or provinces A more detailed negotiation round (or series of rounds) might occur as each side makes demands, offers and con...

Re: All of my generals are terrible. How do I get new ones??
To be fair I think there is some historical accuracy in this kind of thing. Some nations historically did have a clutch of useless generals at the worst possible time. Archamenid Persia at the time of Darius III and Alexander's invasion. That said Darius does seem to have had a handful of talented c...

Military Monarchs
There were many of these with the period covered such as Alexander the Great, Antigonous Monopthalmus and others. Even some monarchs with far less military talent quite frequently led armies into battle, With this in mind should the ruling monarch not be included in the commander's pool whether or n...

Re: Imitation Legionaries
Some good points there. With my experience of fighting them (Ptolemaic Egypt versus Nubia with that series of wars finally ending in 211 BC) they are just too good. Meanwhile Rome hasn't even had the Marian reforms yet so shouldn't the Imitation Legionaries actually reflect the pre Marian legions in...

Empires could and very often did become decadent and went into a decline. Fact of history. You can choose to manage your decadent and declining state or you can choose to change factions

Re: Unwanted Regions
Their could be historical rationale for this for example Rome's abandonment of Dacia or the retreat back from the Antonine Wall. Being able to offer regions/provinces in treaty negotiations would be a good feature to have

Imitation Legionaries
I know these are often intended to be Palace Guards but they seem hugely over powered, There are Guard and "Guards" and these guys are not and should not be the 10th Legion. While they might still b a nationally "elite" formation that does not need to be so internationally - real elites ought to be ...

Re: Seasons
Perhaps an ideal solution would be to have a seasons option available (eg for times of war) but non mandatory. Hence it vould be possible for those like me who might want the option available primarily for the fighting of wars without having it on all the time or forcing it on everyone and massively...

3rd Century AD Crisis
Third Century Crisis Never covered in RTW I think this era would make a great subject for a campaign. Though the Roman Empire starts huge that means it has a lot too defend. And it has a lot of problems ranging from a vad economy, disloyal generals who want to be Emperor, plague and lots of powerful...

Re: an historical game ?
More so that Rome Total War was. So far I haven't seen any ridiculous military units as were sometimes seen in RTW. Maybe the graphics in FOG2 aren't quite as good in RTW and no naval battles (maybe there could be a naval DLC sometime? Being forced to fight a battle when it would be more sensible to...

Maybe trading for elephants should be an option but only for those empires that had them eg Diadochi. However if that were implemented it should be costly

Re: Seasons
I'd be fine with having the option available in single player games. And perhaps even changeable during the game, Night even be a useful feature in any future smaller campaigns covering for example the 3rd Century Crisis (now that would be a challenging situation for the Romans) the Roman conquest o...
