Re: Ottoman team event : Round 3
Bloodbath in the Crimea – GentlemanRanker’s Ottoman Turks defeat TomoeGozens’s Russians: 42 – 61. The map consisted of a large central bowl, with plenty of forest cover and rough ground for both armies on the adjacent high ground. The Ottoman infantry drew up on the lip of the bowl, with the artille...

Re: Ottoman team event : Round Two
smjohnso77's Teutonic Knight 1543 – 1561 beat Gentleman Ranker's Ottomans 1560 – 1609: 38 - 60 smjohnso77 chose to forego the potential 200 point advantage, and set up a battle with ‘very large’ forces. These huge battles are insane; the Knights fielded more units of lancers and pike keils than I c...

Re: Ottoman team event - Round One, Mohacs
Miracle proclaimed at Mohacs! GentlemanRanker’s Hungarians repulsed the Ottoman horde of snooky51, 49 – 61. Both sides started carefully; the Hungarians withdrew out of artillery range and dressed their line, interspersing pike blocks and gendarmes, trying to keep the vulnerable infantry in close su...

Re: Ottomans and their enemies - new team event
Thank you to Alan, Andre and Brian for taking the trouble to organise another friendly P&S event - I too would like to participate. My preference would be to play as the Nottomans rather that the Ottomans, if only because the Sultan had a decidedly robust approach to dealing with losing generals! Ho...

Re: 30 Years War - Round 4 - set-up and results
Referees ruling required: Seeing as a clearly drunken GDod has posted the AAR of our battle to the wrong thread, does that make it technically a win for me? I claim a magnificent Spanish (moral) victory! Admittedly we left the field to the enemy, and may have suffered a just a few more casualties .....

Re: Horse and Musket Campaigns?
I am certainly one of those who would love to see the well balance gameplay mechanisms implemented in this family of turn-based tactical wargames extended to new P&S2 and Horse and Musket games. In the meanwhile, talented modders, such as the late Odenathus, edward77 and Cronos09, and Paul59 (to nam...

Re: 30 Years War team event - Round 4
I increasingly feel the need to get in on this action, even if it is only to provide SnuggleBunnies with yet another walkover.

Re: Idle curiosity
Thank you for the swift reply, good to know that the TopTeam are on the case.
I can certainly see how appearing to be based in Silicon Valley or L.A. might provide more international cachet for a company than having a head office in, say, Epsom.
Best wishes,
Nick

Idle curiosity
When the PBEM++ server logs an event, it uses a Pacific Time timestamp. Why does, what I take to be a British company, Slitherine, appear to have its servers located on the West Coast of America?
A long way to go for a reboot surely?

Re: Viewing Multi Player Scenarios
You can create a multiplayer game using the Slitherine PBEM++ server, and then pick it up and play both sides in a hotseat game. To be able to pick up your own multiplayer games, there needs to be a file called USER.TXT located in ..\Documents\My Games\BBCBA , which contains the line: ALLOWMPHOTSEAT 1

Re: the manual hardly explains anything
Vik, this is not an easy game to master, I find that one of the best ways to get to grips with the complex gameplay is to watch good players in action. Have you checked out SnuggleBunnies’ YouTube channel yet? He offers excellent advice covering force selection, using the terrain, and manoeuvring, w...

Re: UNDO command in P&S
Many thanks to you both; following the instruction given, I have installed and tested the ‘Undo / Immediate score update’ mod for single player and multiplayer – the mod worked as advertised in both modes. I found a couple of slight departures during installation: To update for SP, added the TEXTURE...

Re: UNDO command in P&S
Thank you Cronos09, for your continuing efforts to update and enhance this fantastic game. I am sure that every regular player would agree that the immediate change in the battle score is a very welcome, and much needed, UI improvement. The Undo command has cleverly been made to work with the reacti...

Re: SnuggleBunny's Pike and Shot, Field of Glory II, and Sengoku Jidai Channel
To help me improve at Pike & Shot and Sengoku Jidai, find that I have enrolled at OUS (Online University of SnuggleBunny). Watching a match on YouTube, then setting up a hot seat game using the same forces, is a good way to get to grips with some of the more elusive aspects of the gameplay. I suspec...

Re: SnuggleBunny's Pike and Shot, Field of Glory II, and Sengoku Jidai Channel
This is very welcome news Jack; I have long been a cheerleader for Richard Yorke’s sterling efforts to promote the multiplayer aspect of these excellent, underated games via YouTube. I have found your insightful comments following my numerous losses to you to be most helpful; to have a player of you...

GentlemanRanker (Uesugi) beat TheGrayMouser (Tokugawa) 55-62 The Uesgui samurai established an early lead, sweeping away Tokugawa units facing their right flank (this is going to be easy!), only to throw it all away due to the propensity of pursuing units to present their backs to the Tokugawa battl...

GentlemanRanker (Uesugi) beat Eobrian2 (Oda) 43-18 The two armies, arrayed in deep formation, clashed on a narrow front between areas of woodland. The superior Oda troops were generally able to prevail in the centre, but space to break through was initially limited. Uesugi ashigaru hidden in the woo...

Re: 2020 team event Round One
GentlemanRanker (Uesugi) beat ahuyton (Toyotomi) 44-18 The Uesugi were gifted a large hill on the right wing, so the Toyotomi thrust favoured their right wing. However, on that side the Uesugi were anchored in broken woodland, bristling with ashigaru , with yari samurai free to operate unhindered in...
