Judea will concede to return Nabatea's regions. However, the one region from Arabia has already been agreed to between Judea and Ptolemy in private diplomatic negotiations.

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?

I believe if Judea theoretically guarded it's border except for the to-be-sacrificed region, then the AI would likely go there. However, that's quite unit intensive to completely guard a border except for one area. Not sure if Judea can realistically afford that (our current war state makes it diffi...

Not sure why Macedonians would use such soft metal amalgamates as helmets, but here in the Celtic lands, we'd rather ride naked into battle than wear such silly protection.

Antigonus son of Seleucus, ie, the eastern Antigonus, finds in favor of brave Judea in the current Arabian War, and pledges non aggression with our Judean neighbors while they sort this out (with more aid under active consideration ...). The general's council ruling the Antigonid Kingdom of Phrygia...

I don't quite understand why having an Israeli Founding Father leading another country would be a BAD thing.
I for one view it as a great way to initiate peace after a long period of conflict.

Re: What good are fleets?

Don't forget that even if you're not trying to take the region, that your fleets disable all harbor/shipyard buildings which can take a big bite out of gold income. And it will prevent any shipbuilding at that location. So once you take naval superiority, it can be hard to lose it. Naval superiority...

The hard part seems to be to actually get out of a game. I've had two where I've surrendered twice and haven't submitted a turn in weeks and it still tells me its my turn.
I'm stuck in two games right now and unsure how to permanently get out of them.

Most barbarians are more interested in loot and pillage more then conquest and didn't technology to siege large enough fortified settlment so just ravaged the surroundings . Re: End of Season round-up . . .

Thank you Pete for such a well-run tourney! And a big thank you to the community that is reliably polite and professional. Winning or losing, it's always a pleasure (unless the dice rolls are bad, of course, in which case I break out my rbodleyscott voodoo doll). I was nervous about stepping up in t...

Re: Lose a region battle and lose the city as well?

I can confirm Massina's account at it was at the hands of my embattled Syracuse forces. I had given an order to assault the city in my move into the region though as it had literally been seized by Carthage the turn before so I figured the garrison would have been negligible. That may be the explan...

Re: Lose a region battle and lose the city as well?

Be very interested to see the answer to this because I just had something similar happen in an MP game where my massive army walked into Byzantion, defeated the combined forces of a small field army and the garrison that inexplicably joined them on the field, and then.........the city became mine. N...

General Priority Issue

I just witnessed my fleet and army get embarrassed by an enemy flotilla because instead of the 1-1 admiral in charge of the fleet taking priority, the 2-0 general in charge of the transport fleet did, resulting in me rolling fewer dice than my opponent. That's not okay Pocus. Not. Okay.

Re: Cavalry and Battle Frontage Solution

Close. I just read up on Carrhae in Peter Connelly's Greece and Rome at War. Crassus ignored advice to set up in a thinned line (simplex acis) with cavalry on the wings and went with a giant square formation. The Parthians screened their cataphracts with the horse archers and harassed the Roman for...

I know I speak for many of the would-be generals in saying that I'd like to thank Slitherine for sponsoring the league. I'm sure all would play without this but this is a nice touch to show that Slitherine cares for its user community. I'd also like to thank you for all you hard work and commitment...

Re: Any Multiplayer Games Open?

I think one game of scheming diplomacy is enough for me. Shall we keep it a bit simpler and leave it on a first-come-first-serve basis with freedom to choose your faction to any of the tier 1 and 2 ones and no game password? I don't mind losing! Will set up the game tonight (20:00 GMT). Sounds fun....

Re: Cavalry and Battle Frontage Solution

What do you think of a battle like Carrhae ? Would it be modelled correctly by a stalemate of legions vs cataphracts + loss of roman cavary vs parthian cavalry on the flanks? Or something different? Good question. Top of my head, I'd view it as a series of draws culminating in a Parthian win and to...
