A strange ritual seems to be taking place in Division A where just harveylh (German) chooses an opponent and plays to a conclusion.

Re: The Hussites
I think one key question on the war wagons will be whether you envision a unit representing one war wagon or multiple war wagons. I would think multiple war wagons would make more sense. If a unit represents multiple war wagons, you need to think about whether a Hussite army should be able move thr...

The War Wagon hussite-war-wagons-and-hand-canoneers..jpg The War Wagon is easily the most important and iconic weapon system in the Hussite army. To actually make the Hussite list work in FoGM, we need to figure out how to effectively implement it in game. No war wagon, no Hussite army. Not only wa...

Black Powder Units hussite-guns-pistala-houfnice-tarasnice.jpg As best I can tell, the Hussites made use of three forms of gunpowder weapons: 1) the handgonne or hand cannon........essentially a metal tube on a stick with a little hole where you use a match to ignite the black power (and then pray)...

The Flail Hussite Flail.jpg The spiked flail is without a doubt one of the most iconic weapons of the Hussite army. The flail itself is quintessential peasant equipment in its basic form; peasants used them to literally beat harvested grain and slowly separate the edible parts from the straw. A dec...

The Hussite Army The People and Their Weapons As was alluded to in the previous post, the Hussite army was drawn from a cross section of Bohemian society, but in three different ways. 1) There were prominent Bohemian nobles who supported the Hussite movement, and who would join the army in the same...

The Hussites
Alright so I'm starting this thread to map out what I think a Hussite army list could look like in FoGM. It won't be completed all in one go, but that's probably fine since the Hussites are from a time period not currently covered by FoGM. ------------- First, the basics: The Hussites in the simples...

Division B Geffalrus (Germans S/E) defeats paulmcneil (English) 63-46 Things remained pretty even and balanced as the early carnage of the match got going. I eventually managed to slip ahead because my overwhelmed wing was composed of hard to break mounted knights, while my opponent's threatened win...

Division B Geffalrus (Germans S/E) defeats oscarius (Scots Isles) 55-27 Once I knew that I was facing a heavy infantry army backed up by nothing but medium foot, I knew that I'd have to try a big knight charge. Did it work? Sort of? My knights plowed into the veritable zerg swarm of axe wielding sco...

Re: Mongol and shooting !
My opinion would be that one should always be a little careful of making armies "overpowered" as a means of historical replication. FoG and all the related games only deal with a small portion of military conflict - that which takes place on the battlefield. A lot of what made various armies overpow...

Division A Geffalrus (Byzantines) defeats hidde (Dailami) 46-3 The Byzantine combo of lancers and skutatoi were able to keep the fearsome Dailami at a distance while peppering them with arrows and disrupting their elephant. A well timed charge and some unlucky cohesion checks on the units neighborin...

Division A Geffalrus (Byzantines) barely defeats harveylh (Ummayads) 63-56 Close match pretty much from the beginning. My expensive elites did their best to break through the center, while his cavalry did their best to work around my flanks. We traded units up until the very end when I was lucky eno...

Re: Unexpected things I'm noticing
Interesting, wasn't sure that actually got formally implemented. In that case, it's damn impressive that the raw spearmen I've been knight charging have held firm despite losing multiple times on impact. Presumably the nearby general in combat helped a bit. Clearly I've lapsed in my offerings to RNG...

Re: Rallies.
Wouldn’t that punish armies that don’t have light cavalry and heavy infantry armies that get less generals? Personally, I’ m fine with the way rallying works now, but if it is ever deemed a problem. I’d prefer something simpler. For example, what if units inside 6 ( could be 4, 5) grids from the si...

Division B Geffalrus (Germans S/E) defeated Nijis (Hungarians) 43-14 The Germans camped a mass of massed archers and xbows in a big patch of rough, while the Hungarian swarm of skirmishers tried to pick them apart. Furious German knights rode down a few of the light archers, but in turn found themse...

Re: Unexpected things I'm noticing
Well, have played a fair number of games now - yep all fun, but I'm noticing some interesting events. Im wondering if its just me and the luck virus. 1. Raw spears seem to hold out really well 2. My mounted knights seem to keep bouncing back a lot rather than getting stuck in 3. It worth charging m...

Re: Rallies.
What if the mechanics of rallying routed units remain the same - but - the rallied from routed units only refund their rout percent if they enter the command range of a general or a designated command unit like a Standard Wagon (or a similar baggage train unit in Ancients)? That way, units that rall...

Re: Mongol and shooting !
Personally, I think the Mongols should be a strong list, I just think the lancer component is a bit too strong, since it contributes a ton of shooting power (superior shooting hits harder), can still evade, and can punish non-Knights with a lancer charge. And let's not forget those trebuchets. Heavy...

Re: Offensive armoured spearmen vs Offensive spearmen
Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. I still think they should be worth a couple more points at least since when compared to how expert armored horse archers were balanced vs. cataphracts in FoG2 Ancients, Mongol lancers have a powerful impact ability even if it doesn't work vs. a select group of u...
