Thoughts on GC West?
Finished the grindy GC East on Rommel and wanted to try out GC West next. How do the two campaigns compare, in terms of difficulty and fun? For those that played both :) I was going to import my elite core at first but they are ridiculously strong for the unexperienced enemy, so it's probably more s...

First time I ever got muddy weather in France
Replayed GC 1940 a dozen times and this is the first time I got muddy weather in Reims and now in Dijon on my Rommel run. Made the Reims scenario a lot more interesting all of a sudden! It looked pretty bad after a few turns, I initially trapped 2 of their 3 planes on the first turn but didn't get a...

Re: Infinite recon movement trick
Wait till you hear about underway replenishment of recon planes... Woot? :) I enjoyed using a recon plane in the soviet campaign last year, but why didn't they stick Erwin Rommel in a recon plane for the Afrika Corps campaign? Or make a short recon deployment phase with him in the p...

Re: Infinite recon movement trick
I think goose_2 shows it in his videos all the time... seems a bug though... With the rail transport? If so, would love to see that so please link it Definitely a bug/glitch and not intended gameplay. Started intentionally using the resupply trick on a recon in my last few scenarios, not that big o...

Infinite recon movement trick
So I noticed over the past few years of playing PzC that sometimes I can refuel my recon units even after moving them, by cancelling the move while there is still some movement left, doesn't work if you attack first. I couldn't really consistently replicate it until I randomly read somewhere about i...

Re: Grand Campaign Challenge Idea, no upgrades?
Cool idea, at what difficulty? Not sure, Rommel? Since I think a lot of prestige would be saved by not upgrading and disbanding "obsolete" units eventually. A lot of tactical choices and difficult decisions would have to be made regarding the core and overstrengthening weaker units a lot ...

Grand Campaign Challenge Idea, no upgrades?
Had this random idea about doing a GC but without upgrading any units, no exceptions. Sounds like it could be a fun challenge, what do people think? I'm pretty sure I did something like this back in the day with Panzer General 2 and I remember having an absolute blast, some of the apparently weak un...

Because suffering from restartitis means I haven't completed the GC yet despite a dozen attempts

Re: Issues with Soviet Corps campaign
A little update on the campaign, I'm at the battle for Romania and really love it so far despite the rough start. Every scenario feels uniquely different and there is a twist to it, for this one it looks like I'm going to force Romania to switch sides and then I will have to use only them to capture...

Re: Issues with Soviet Corps campaign
Lmao, this campaign continues to troll me. Missed out on a Triumph victory again at Operation Uranus because I didn't read the fine print "Capture all objectives in 15 turns", despite having 18 turns available. I was taking a more cautious approach thinking I had time for it 🤦♂️ Have to r...

Re: Issues with Soviet Corps campaign
I worked it out like I mentioned above. It's a bit confusing and clunky, the counter attack seems timed per turn but the objective change only happens once you get the special bridging infantry to BOTH of the "B" victory hexes, there should be more clarification about that besides the &quo...

Re: Issues with Soviet Corps campaign
Ok, maybe I spoke too soon. The open Caucasus scenario was really fun to play, repeatedly smashing German armor was really satisfying :) The scenario where you have to capture a tiger tank was good as well. Then Stalingrad came next and I dreading playing another big city map, but surprisingly it wa...

Re: Issues with Soviet Corps campaign
One possible explanation for this is the devs perhaps wanted me to bring the Commissar bridge infantry unit to Kharkov sooner, maybe I brought him to Kharkov too late, despite capturing it earlier. If so, it's an oversight on the map design part, there was no clear instruction to bring Commissar to...

Issues with Soviet Corps campaign
How are people finding this campaign? I gotta say I'm not the biggest fan of it, it's frustrating in many ways, and glitchy as well looks like. The start is difficult which is to be expected, and the early units are crap, especially air units and infantry, but at least I have enough prestige on Zhuk...

Re: Am I getting less XP after 42' GC on Rommel?
Your experience becomes more difficult to accumulate after you reach higher levels of experience. In other words it is extremely easy to get that first star of experience. A lot more difficult to get that 4th star. Does that make sense? What I mean is the lower experience levels are acquired more q...

Re: Is flammpanzer worth using?
Flamm Panzers can accumulate a huge number of kills. They are great units to have until Stalingrad. Once you get past that point, you can leverage their heroes and decide on an upgrade. Why until Stalingrad, because Soviets get better infantry after that? Not played past that point in GC. But flamm...

Re: Is flammpanzer worth using?
Wow, didn't know the Soviets had flamethrower tanks, didn't play them yet :) Yeah, thanks for the reminder, the flammpanzer was AI's most hated unit by far from memory, needs a lot of babysitting but can trigger some nice traps at least. I will try and use one in my game, if I end up liking it I mig...

Is flammpanzer worth using?
Has anyone found a good efficient use for flammpanzer overall? I've used it for fun in the past but was never quite happy with how it performed, took too many casualties too often. It was my favorite unit back in modded PG2. I'm trying to think of a way to abuse its insane 140% RoF, and I'm just thi...
