Noticed a model/texture error on egyptian archers.

The arrows in their quivers are only visible when the model is viewed from the front. This applies to the new nubian archers as well.

Re: Cohesion drop question

They can drop a second time if they "lose badly", which I'm not sure is defined anywhere precisely.

Re: Pike Re-Balance Workshop

Really the only thing I would change about pikes is I would have them maintain +200 on impact until they reach 25 percent losses, and then start to lose impact points.

Re: Anybody figured out how to use 'Abid al-shira?

Appian describes the Seleucid pikemen forming a square after their support was destroyed. The Romans declined to charge them and just showered them with missiles.

Re: Cohesion drop question

One roll is done for close combat and that score is kept and modified every time a new modifier is added. So if you lost combat against one unit and pass your roll, but then lost combat against the second unit and also, for example, gain the "lost [whatever percentage it is] strength" modifier and g...

Re: Break from steady in single combat

The auto drop from being caught in the flank and the drop from losing combat are tracked separately. You can instant kill units in one round if you have two sources of morale loss. I have killed a superior cavalry in a single round by charging with a light horse. They lost badly and fragmented, then...

Re: Oddly specific request for the number-crunchers out there

Assuming its working as intended apparently elite troops, while more likely to pass their cohesion tests than superior troops, are also more slightly more likely to roll snake eyes just as a raw percentage. Re-rolling 2s into 1s? Yes there is probably a rule that rerolls can't be lower than the ini...

Re: Oddly specific request for the number-crunchers out there

I wrote a little function to show dice outputs (assuming I remembered the morale system correctly)

Re: Blocked Break Offs

Seems like it would make junky armies more effective. It removes the question of if your, say, light spear infantry can get stuck in against against impact foot or pikes and open a flank opportunity, or if they will recoil badly and you wasted significant effort. Now there will always be a gain to s...

Re: What do you hope to see added before Fog II ends?

Some lists: a greek wars persian army with the various subject peoples they brought along the way (indians, assyrians, egyptians). Christian nubian kingdom with superior archers.

Maybe import in some of those Panzer corps 2 assets and give us some panzers...

I find them handy as reserve troops. If your spears or dailami get in trouble they can maneuver in and start knocking heads.

Re: Any chance the animation of the units be looked at?

Ghilman have an animation issue as well. When they are in melee their back shields disappear (intended?) except for on at least one of their melee animations the shield flickers into view for what looks like the first frame of the animation cycle. On a more positive note the underhanded spear animat...

Re: The Arab vs. Sassanid Persian list feels absolutely perfect. (a thank you)

The TT Sassanid list is made even harder by your superior horse archers being not maneuverable and having to stand and take impacts at a disadvantage. I'll admit I was skeptical of having an army where basically the whole infantry body is superior grade but given the historical context and the effec...

Re: Which Armies/Units would you like to see

Mubarizun seems like it wouldn't work as a standalone unit, since it wouldn't do its intended job - killing enemy champions. It would be used to kill skirmishers in game. Having trained, dedicated champion killers integrated into their fighting units could possibly be part of what justifies the supe...

Re: Should I have this much trouble with the Gauls/Germans with Caesar's Legions?

Assuming you are playing against the AI.. What works for me: I think its mostly a matter of balancing your ratios of legion quality. I would rather take 1 vet legion + 3 raw legions than 2 vet legions or 6 raw legions for example. Take enough superior and elite legions to cover the front spaces of y...

Re: What is the Historical/Concrete Explanation for How Lancers are typically used?

The strategicon recommends that that cavalry that is forced back should retreat a distance of a few bowshots, do an about-face, and prepare for another charge. If that fails consecutively they should retreat behind the reserve line and support it. I think that is a fair description of the way charge...

Re: Which Armies/Units would you like to see

I would like to see some of the more widely used single-texture units get at least one more variant. Armoured noble lancers are very widely used and every man wears the same getup. Adding some variants to their cloak colours would do a lot for them. This might be more nitpicky but I would like to se...

It does seem a little out of character that the reason I take thracians is mostly to defend hilltops, since they don't pursue.
