Re: Biblical section experiment - can you spare 10 minutes to help?

It has been interesting this time, but I like your idea of alternating. I would select:

Achaemenid Persian 545-481 BC
Kushite Egyptian 727-656 BC
Skythian/Saka 550-301 BC
Babylonian 626-539 BC
Arab 1000-313 BC

Re: Ottomans and their enemies - new team event

I would be up for trying an event like this. I did a practice match each on both sides of the scenario. I won handily when playing as the Ottomans and lost gruesomely going up against them. But I still get all confused when there's no pike in my shot and some of my shooting goes swish swish instead...

Division C

ahuyton (Greek) won against IMC (Lydian) 48-11

Very difficult for the Lydians in an open terrain. The MF crumble against the massed hoplites.

Re: Ottomans and their enemies - new team event

Can another newbie join in? That would be great! I try to make match-ups reasonable so that the Star Players are not playing against the newer ones, though sometimes this can happen - or a 'newbie' turns out to be an excellent player, which happens. But having said that it can be very 'educational'...

Re: Ottomans and their enemies - new team event

Thanks to everyone so far for entering. I should add that the spirit of our event is to have fun, discover the game and different armies. Obviously, because it is a wargame, one wants to win but hopefully the winning and losing can happen in a friendly way, with chat and discussion along the way and...

Ottomans and their enemies - new team event

So, I would like to start our new team event in November. As with the rather successful 30YW event, we will play four rounds again, just one game per round with a month to finish the game. Enough play to keep it interesting but without making excessive demands on players. We will have two teams, cap...

Me too, my last turn against Sarmation (which was quite a decent turn for me) failed to upload. My connection was fine.

Re: 30 Years War team event - state of play

Thanks to everyone for the comments and for playing the games in a good spirit. We had two excellent captains in Andre (Awesum4) and Brian (Kiwiwarlord) and their tactical hints and general organising of the teams was conducive to a successful event. I realise that some of the games were a bit favou...

30 Years War team event - state of play and debriefing

With the last results in, we bring this team event to an eventful close. In sum, - The battle of the White Mountain saw mixed fortunes for the Bohemians and Catholics - The 1520 encounters seemed to favour the Protestants, whose firepower was too effective for the Catholic tercios - Luetzen however,...

Re: 30 Years War - Round 4 - set-up and results

Referees ruling required: Seeing as a clearly drunken GDod has posted the AAR of our battle to the wrong thread, does that make it technically a win for me? I claim a magnificent Spanish (moral) victory! Admittedly we left the field to the enemy, and may have suffered a just a few more casualties ....

Good game and valiant effort by my opponent after a very unlucky start.

Best wishes
Adam
Well done, Adam, an impressive result especially against Andre, who is an excllent player (and normally beats me with ease).
