Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020

Either woolly underwear or we postpone until spring I reckon. I will possibly hear from the Hall quite soon about how the regs impact community facilities (anyone know?). Let’s wait a few days to hear from them before we make any big decisions.

Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020

Yes, there is room to have all three tables outside undercover. Might get some curious locals looking on.

Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020

Dear all, Come this Sunday it will be 2 weeks until round 2 of our extended event. So grateful to know by Sunday if there are any more new players that would like to come along and try to qualify for the finals in December. After Sunday I shall open any remaining places to people who were in the fir...

Yes, I believe tier 1 and NHS medium are the same thing.

So far so good.

Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020

I just got a list from Steve - thanks. Turns out he is Royalist rather than Parliament. So I took a look at the Draw but can see no way of avoiding an internecine struggle in round 1. One might argue that we do not worry about this in subsequent rounds so why should we in the first? Accordingly I pr...

Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020

All, DRAW follows for the first round of the event. In my earlier post I made some silly comments about Round Robins which are clearly not appropriate with 6 players and 3 games! Also the draw is subject to adjustment should Steve decide to use other than his favourite 1644 Parliament. As a very wel...

Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020

Yes, the idea is that if we get 6 new players applying for November then they will get first refusal to play. Those of us in the October session have to try to get one of the three top spots in that so as to be eligible for the play off in December. If there are not 6 new players wanting to enter in...

Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020

Having thought it through a bit more we want to add one further rule that there will be one spot at each event reserved for an OWS member to be responsible for the use of the Hall and running the event generally. So, if an OWS member does not naturally make it through to the 3rd round then the sixth...

Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020

I have now got some guidance from the Hall which they got from the body that looks after community facilities nationally. Essentially the advice is as we thought; clubs such as ours should be limited to 6 at an event. Accordingly it seems that our best option is to spread the whole ECW event over th...
