Re: Later Seleucid 900 points
Yup, even with the +3 I failed. Rolled two 1's for the two units' death rolls, one right after the other. He got in enough shots from different directions, managed to hit with every die rolled. It was an epic collapse of that flank. And as for that "if in the right place" thing... yeah wel...

Heavy Chariot with Light Spear
Heavy Chariot with Light Spear In a recent FAQ Slitherine recently stipulated that Heavy Chariots with Light Spear can receive both POAs, 'if both qualify.' So I'm trying to come up with a list of scenarios in which that would actually happen, to see how likely that is... and hence to determine if L...

Tricky stuff
I was paging through Immortal Fire the other day and saw this under the army notes for the Syracusian army: "It is permissible to depict the disguised rowers using hoplites. If this is done, their true nature does not need to be disclosed until they are shot at or engaged in close combat."...

No doubt there... they are of excellent quality.petedalby wrote:Like I said:

Re: Little Big Men vs. VeniVidiVici shield transfers (15mm)
Well the *CHANGES TO LITTLE BIG MEN STUDIOS TRANSFERS* note on their website confuses things. Step 4 of the instructions refers to a "Clear Plastic Layer." But on the website it says "instead of a plastic top layer it is now a paper layer, which needs water applied to it to come off.&...

Re: Ambushing: Anyone do it?
I see. so, in your case, Raven, you hid the cataphracts in a forest and then revealed them before the enemy MF were in the forest. Then work the cats free of the forest forst before getting them into a fight. OK yes that does take perfect timing.

Re: Little Big Men vs. VeniVidiVici shield transfers (15mm)
OK, I think I figured it out. Thanks, Raven. I didn't realize there were three different layers in play - the white paper layer, the clear plastic layer, and the actual decal in between. I was pre-soaking the decals in a cup of water for 30 seconds, like I do with all other decals. The "decal&q...

Re: Little Big Men vs. VeniVidiVici shield transfers (15mm)
OK well color me dumb. I ordered and received the LBM decals and have not figured out how to get them to work at all. They seem way too stiff to apply to rounded shields. I've followed their directions regarding "domed" surfaces but as soon as I let off pressure the decal pops off and resu...

Re: Ambushing: Anyone do it?
I see... so it sounds like the main purpose of ambushing is to get heavy troops (HF / cataphract / etc) into terrain and using them to stomp the MF or skirmishers the enemy sends in there to seize that terrain piese. Useful, I suppose.

Ambushing: Anyone do it?
The Ambushing rules in FoG are interesting, but in all the games I've watched and all the BatReps I've read I've never actually seen anyone do it. Does it ever make sense? Has anyone ever tried it? Is it effective? Roughly how often does the terrain fall in a way that allows for ambushing - 50% of t...

Re: Later Seleucid 900 points
Thanks to everyone for all your feedback so far. Here are my thoughts, for what they are worth (perhaps a few cents :) ): Agree that a single unit of MF is not much use. Since your 6 will need to ba at least 2 deep to be effective, it'll be too small a unit to successfully contest terrain (which wil...

Re: Later Seleucid 900 points
OK, this is the latest version of my army list. http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/zephyr40k/Seleucid_v3.jpg Pumped out 2 of the phalanxes to 10 to be able to absorb some casualties. Replaced the imitation legionaires with the superior pike. Added 2 to the Thoratikai to max it out. Maxed out m...

BG Movement Trays
I am considering my options re: movement trays. My bases are magnetized and I've been working both with magnetic vinyl sheeting (a bit too floppy for my tastes) and 26-gauge mild sheet steel (I can't seem to cut it without getting it all bent up). So today some Google-Fu found me this website: http:...

Re: Version 2.0 Errata
I think I may have caught an erratta in v2 regarding placement of Ambush markers for the non-Initiative player. In the book it says that the zone they may place them in is a thin strip up to six inches from the centerline (outer two thirds), but in the quick reference in back it says they may place ...

Re: Unlimited re downloads vs buying the physical copy
The 'unlimited downloads' option for electronic product purchases is an excellent idea, and is in line with the rest of the industry, from RPG Drive Through to Amazon's Kindle Direct. The only company that doesn't do that is Mongoose Games, the outfit that makes the "Force on Force" and &q...

Little Big Men vs. VeniVidiVici shield transfers (15mm)
I'll be needing to put in an order for shield transfers soon. Am looking for feedback and reviews on these two manufacturers. Which one is better? LBM is more expensive but it does appear based on their website that the designs may be of higher quality. Or is there another manufacturer of ancient 15...
