Re: Help building a 650 pt Dacian list
Taking the Sarmation as 1x6 lancers gives this unit some good power.....not sure what you would drop for that.

Re: LRR List suggestions
The only reason I can think to take Numidian allies is for the extra elephants--while they are better under 2.0 in terms of impact dice neither elephant can get the general bonus, so I'm not sure it's worth it. There are enough light horse on the main list such that you really don't gain from the Nu...

Re: Qin in terracota
Better to paint them..the originals where all painted which faded when exposed to the atmosphere. So,much for the clearcoat. Better to use a gloss finish for over a thousand years.

Re: Later Crusaders at BADcon game 2
I wonder if it would have been possible to push the table at all, maybe with less terrain. Deploy the spear 6 wide (about 3 foot long battle line of just the spear), leaving one of the drilled knights in reserve.

Re: A couple of questions about Dacians
I find the falxmen hold up very well considering how cheap they are, and you can have a big Sarmation contingent that is very useful against Romans.

Re: flank charge?
Trasimene is the same as the Wald....road column, in which case as soon as contact is made they deploy out of it as being in a 5 -8 men wide march column near the enemy is not a fighting formation. On top of it the width to length of our modeled "column" is no where even close to a road ma...

Re: flank charge?
Or we could just agree that maneuvering in columns and modeling kinking of such at all is stupid for this scale of game anyway and not allow it. Can anyone give me an example of infantry in March order involved in any kind of set piece battle? Let's not bother with the the ambush in the German Wood....

Re: Principate Roman Auxilia
I was kind of hoping the whole troop type would disappear in fog2.. ..The extra maneuverability of MF in fog although reduced in v2 somewhat makes these troops nice to have. Certainly I used to use these with the lanciari to swarm flanks while the 2-3bg of legions refused and looking for a spot. It ...

Re: Pre-set terrain
Lost Battles gives the terrain set up for 40 Historical battles, and these could randomized. Depending on if these are selected before or after army list selection players will at least have an idea of what to expect.

Re: Bombards--are they realistic in this game?
For most of the period covered by fog you simply don't see any reports of artillery dominating or even being mentioned in many field battles...in particular at the scale being modeled.

Re: Winners Atrittion
I have found myself playing once every 3 or 4 months with little gaming time now. I simply don't think I will want to sit through 3hour plus rounds in a FOG tournament with the time I do have. What time I have is now dba and lost battles for ancients and fow for competition gaming. A long game in fo...

I recently saw a fow tournament posted at 1760 points. Speculation was that someone had found a perfect list at 1760 so made the tournament at this level.

Re: Any insights from 1st V2 tournament (Godendag)?
So are we looking at all mounted armies in the top 3? Does an one else feel that the turn 90 and move restriction limit heavy foot more than any other troop type----it's just a feeling so far but has been rather disappointing. Still looking at mounted armies as much better on table. I find myself ju...

Re: V2 Roman Auxilia now in 6's
I'm feeling the late Romans could vary greatly in quality. I put Julian's army at Strasbourg as an example, where I believe all the infantry should be top quality and with archer support, to the point of making all auxilia and legions superior with possibly the primari as elite. Even the newly raise...

I assume yes by the notes on the army list. It says "billmen" not English billmen.
