I'm not a beta tester and thus do not have access to the beta sub-forum. My comments are offered in response to seeing the screenshots on the product page.

Suggestion: Optional unit 'bases'

Will there be an option to display a rectangular base around each unit/element, to make them look more like miniatures on a tabletop? It may seem like a daft idea but what I'm hoping to find with the computer version of FoG is a similar feel to the miniatures game. My dream is to be able to practice...

Of course the question is do you really want everyone playing the same Napoleonic rules? There are definite advantages to a degree of rules standardisation and the domination of Ancients for years by DBM meant I could travel all over the world and play the same game with different scenery and beer ...

Making bases of only knights, only sergeants and only billmen would help in case you take different armour status. Use the knights as the front bases for Hvy. Armored, sergeants or billmen and sergeants for armoured, superior, and only billmen for armoured, average. Agreed, this is what I have done...

fwiw; I've always liked the idea that Napoleonics can be played with an economy of figures so that it 'feels big' without necessarily 'being big'. BTW I'd also throw out the idea that if there were such a thing as a FoG branded set of Nappy rules there is no reason why the mechanisms would have to b...

Just got to the end and realised I was in a resurrected thread! Oh well, rather than let all this text go to waste (it's mostly redundant if the lists have been chosen) I'll hit the [Submit] button! ....................................... To answer the OP question: - Late Samurai . I don't care that...

Assuming equal skill between a samurai with katana and a foot knight with broadsword I would expect the samurai to come out with the POA advantage... although as I've admitted I'm biased :P There are almost no parts of a foot knight's armour that the katana can penetrate. Whereas the broadsword... ...

I heard Timurid have pistol-grip storm bolters so they can always use their power-weapons ...wait Offensive spear AND skilled swordsman? So what PoA do you use in melee? It makes no sense. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming they are mixed battlegroups of half spear bases and half s...

You've already been told in this thread and on the Yahoo list to do what you want, if you're still waiting for endorsement from strangers I'm sorry to say that's probably as good as it's going to get. The essence of what you're trying to do is fair enough, however the point you seem to be trying to ...

More thoughts; When a new season starts the grand slam / major events of each region could be locked in based on attendance levels of the previous year. For example if numbers for FoG drop at Cancon but rise at GenConOz then the grand slam for Australia automatically shifts. Obviously you'd need arb...

I have the hang on how to kill them. Important points. They don't hold anything much by themselves. They do...

All other events that the results of are reported to the FoG Hall of Honour are minor events Make sure there is some control over who can post results, a trustworthy organiser from the con or a club secretary :) I might introduce the concept of very minor events for one dayers but that may be a bot...

Another idea; perhaps all points reset to zero when a new world champion is crowned. Alternatively players retain a moderate percentage (25%) to keep them committed to the game over the long term. I believe some sporting leagues work in a similar way so as to retain pro players but not exclude amate...

International system please

I'm very much in favour of a model based on the BHGS one described above. To encourage game playing the lowest strata of points value could be club games (with the second strata being 'any other con' and the highest strata annual National and World titles) this would mean that even in countries with...

FoG strictly ends in 1500

I believe we already discussed some of these concerns on the Yahoo list some time ago, assuming you are the same 'Irondog'. Again, don't forget FoG strictly ends in 1500  I appreciate that it's easy to get carried away when making Samurai lists, but our add-on cannot exceed the specifications ...

Re: Medium Infantry Basing

My natural inclination is to have 3 because it's cheaper and it makes them more obviously MEDIUM than HEAVY! Yep, I agree and AGREE with you :D To extend on this topic there is a similar issue with commanders ~ you are free to depict them as you like (well, within reason) I use a mixed base of cava...

So more themed tourneys gets my vote And also that of most others - though I think on general principles rather than because of any perceived imbalance. I think you've hit the nail on the head here.
