Re: V2 Hardback. Poor quality, poorer customers service

As a final post to this topic I'd like to add that Slitherine came good and my new copy of v2 rules arrived. The new binding is much improved and I'm very happy with my replacement.

Many thanks to all those at Slitherine who helped resolve the issue.

Re: Southern League - Clevedon round - Take away - Sun 24 Ma

Don, Not that it matters much as he'll not be bothered but Gordon Malcolm would be Berkeley along with Keith (and Mike Shepherd) rather than Bristol. Have a good weekend, too bad I can't be there but as anticipated No 2 son's U13s team made it to the County Cup Semis and as he's in the squad I'd lik...

Re: V2 Hardback. Poor quality, poorer customers service

No, the folding isn't the issue, the back cover has torn away from the bound pages, unfortunately the pic in the post misses a bit but the direct link shows it better. I've edited the original post to have the link as a better picture. I noticed it loose on the Sunday morning then by the last game i...

V2 Hardback. Poor quality, poorer customers service

My v2 rules arrived on on 31st December. I've read it, flicked through it a couple of times and used it at PAW 2013 where this happened: http://web.onetel.com/~stenic/Wargmes/P1010041.JPG My V1 book is still fine. I do not expect a book to last less than two months. I'd not posted the pic here previ...

Re: FOG at PAW2013

Sounds like you deployed sensibly - you had quality to his quantity so should be able to overmatch the ABs in one area. But your description of what happened subsequently suggests that your army might have got spread out and some of your small units got isolated, or matched against the enemy's best...

Yes, but there's limited value as scythed chariots can't be part of a Battle Line (so he could only move the chariots).
More over he cannot order re-rolls in the same manner that they cannot for elephants.

Re: scythed chariots

The other thing I've mused on is having two units of the chariots hitting successively. Interesting, hadn't considered that. On reflection In 15mm that might be viable but in 25mm the chances are some pesky lights will have done away with the front rank before you can effectivley use them. It could...

Re: scythed chariots

Well after 2 practice games and 4 tournament games (PAW) trying to make them work they are not worth the mdf they are based on. I used Later Seleucid. In 1 game they performed ok but obly ever as overlaps or were kept out of the way behind my lines - I'm no historian but I suspect that's not a histo...

Re: FOG at PAW2013

Indeed , many thanks to Andy and the Plymouth gang for hosting a good fun show. My games weren't quite as successful and I lost my lovefor FOG a bit on Sunday. I took Seleucids. I also took Scythed Chariots. Never again. Completely useless. also took Companions in two 2base BGs, never again, too bri...

Re: scythed chariots

unbroken enemy. This is an important distinction since you need to drop a fresh BG 3 times so in effect cause at least 1 double drop in either impact or melee and 1 drop in the other phase. Or hit an already disrupted or frag'd BG. If you plan to use them have support close by to take advantage of ...

Re: Rules ruling from Usk

In this case the ruling was that the additional bases did fight, so it sounds like you don't have a problem with that. To be able to comment meaningfully on the Berkeley ruling (which you seem to be suggesting was flawed), I'd need to see exactly what that situation was. Indeed, it seems logical th...

See you there Richard. Mayan sound fun, I know the Tupin were value entertainment when I used them 2 years ago in the 15mm event.

Re: Rules ruling from Usk

Out of curiosity what is an internal overlap and where in the rules does it say they do not fight? He gave the opposite ruling same time around. He said the rules are internal overlaps can't fight but then said to be fair they should. I understand a similar ruling (internal overlaps do not fight) wa...

In the UK they are huge as per all in the UK, usually greater than 6MUs. I understand in other places a Gnat's Todger (note the possesive apostraphe) is of lesser size.

Re: FOG at PAW2013

So who's going?

Berkeley Vale will have their usual contingent less Mike who's been snookered by his brother's 50th and Keith who's not on for such a long distance anymore. We've found a reasonable substitute though in Mr Fry.

V2 Shoock Troops 'wholly' in terrain and CMT to charge

Had a game last night where a BG of Medium IF (ABs) had half a base out of the rough (the rest were completely within the terrain) facing a pike block 2 MUs away outside the terrain. Although the criteria for shock not having to test to charge says they must be 'wholly' within the terrain (and would...
