Re: Rommel Campaign 40

Great camel icons. I saw your fuel truck and thought it was a water bowser. I had visions of some strategic oases in a big map. If they aren't in your control, chance of 1 strength loss per turn, for units in the dry zone. Destroy the enemy water tanker / depot to inflict strength loss on the enemy....

Re: Rommel Campaign 40

Horse transport is surprisingly useful in desert as it never runs out of fuel, is sometimes faster than a truck and can enter some terrain that trucks can't. I assume mules have Alpine move but have 1 less move (mine do). If so inclined you could add camels which would be unaffected (or less affecte...

Re: support ship

I've used scripts (with triggers like destroy a depot, capture an objective or occupy a resupply zone) to provide extra supplies for land units, and also occupy specific zones to reduce supplies to the enemy. I think that PAK mod and Battlefield Europe do something similar.

Re: Panzer Corps 10th Anniversary (11-07-2021) improvement ideas

Towed AT guns should entrench as fast as Infantry. I'm not sure how entrenchment rate works - it appears to allow fractional values as some units take a while to entrench, and some have an upper limit (unless scripted to increase). If so, then it would be nice to have DefEng trait which allows faste...

I was thinking about gebirgspioneers a while back and these will do the job very well - if only I can remember what I wanted them for!

Re: Penetration/Armor role in classic PzC

For the marders, adding in the overwatch/support fire switch and putting them all in series (with the Panzerjager 1) made enough difference to make them useful. At the time they become available, they have a reasonable attack are much cheaper than tanks, and the switch makes them useful because they...

Re: Penetration/Armor role in classic PzC

Weak late war AT units like the hetzer can be made a bit more useful by giving them recon move. Jump in, fire and get out. It's still rubbish but is now a bit useful. For towed guns I agree that 2 move is good for increasing usefulness, but calibre wasn't a great guide to mobility. The French 25 and...

Re: Penetration/Armor role in classic PzC

Thanks lennis29 for the advice on the file - I was sure it was possible, but couldn't work it out. I think that SSgtpg had Stugs with range 1, so a range hero was very useful, though also overpowered. It's not so bad with switchable units as you only get range hero in the version with range >0 (eg 8...

Re: Penetration/Armor role in classic PzC

lennis29 I've emailed a recent version of my equipment file (as I couldn't work out how to attach the file in a general reply. I've used Range 1 for all overwatch mode AT. I was originally going to apply overwatch only for heavier AT guns, but I realised that to make the towed and lightly armoured A...

Re: Why do still stick with the OG Panzer Corps?

Though I bought PC2 when I had a access to a decent discount, I have hardly played it. I find the units have poor visual contrast with the background and the icons were difficult to tell apart. In general I find isometric pseudo-3d hard going on my eyes and much prefer the simpler and cleaner origin...

Re: Penetration/Armor role in classic PzC

Changes I made that made AT in general a lot more attractive without breaking game balance were +2 initiative across the board, and adding a switch to overwatch mode. The ini increase was because even experienced heavy AT was firing second when defending, which seemed counter to pretty much every th...

Re: Penetration/Armor role in classic PzC

There's a reasonable case for allowing AT units slightly better HA than the equivalent tank gun. Firstly, the limited supplies of tungsten cored APCR (or HVAP for the US guns) was preferentially issued to specialised AT units, so they should be more effectivein the AT role. Secondly because while ta...

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and more.

It's hard enough setting a value for tanks with just a single gun! Officially the m3 was supposed to use the 37 for AT, but it seems that they were mainly valued for the relatively longer range AT effectiveness of the 75mm. A good target would be to aim for overall 'not quite as good as a sherman'. ...

Re: Some "new" Artillery icons

One French piece that is often overlooked is the WW1 vintage 37mm infantry gun. Not that powerful but very portable and very accurate for shooting at openings in bunkers etc - so more or less the 37mm from the renault with fortkiller.

Re: Rommel Campaign 40

I think it´s necessary to "standarize" units values to correct the inconsistencies present in the vanilla gme equipment file. I agree. On GD, there's a few things that really stand out - Valentines were armoured the same as Matilda1, Crusaders should have better armour than the Cruiser tanks, and S...

I like the map markups. I must have played 43 East 10 or more times (most recently about a week ago) and there's a whole layer of things I'd never noticed. Great work, well done

Re: Rommel Difficulty: General Advice?

Try searching the forum or using google. Something like panzercorps surrender prestige or version 1.2. Surrender prestige was introduced in version 1.2 along with a lot of other changes like increasing cost of oversrength. Somwhere there will be descriptions of the differences.

Re: Anti Tank units in close terrain (map designer)

Adding to my previous post, I forgot that the AI doesn't use switchable units well - typically switching at random between versions. Making a separate ambush AT unit would be no more work and is lkkely to be more effective.
