Re: HYW English Continental 800pts
Well Shakespeare talks about the Irish in Henry V. Captain MacMorris is the Irishman who defends himself against Captain LLewellyn's accusation that 'there are not many of your nation'. I also understand that the historical sources talk of English Welsh, Scots and Irish (as well as Normans and Frenc...

Re: HYW English Continental 800pts
Cheers eldiablito, Terrain With other armies, even with low initiative i've not found terrain to be sparse. I anticipate that i'll get at least a few useful terrain pieces to help the MF. And even if forced into the open, the HF in the rear ready to step through should give the bowmen confidence. St...

HYW English Continental 800pts
Hi all, I'm building my force for a club singles 800pt tournament. The theme is 'any army starting on or after 1000AD'. I've gone for HYW English (Continental) as follows; 3x TC 4x Men at arms; HF Armoured Superior Drilled Hvy wpn - 4 4x Longbowmen; MF Protected Average Drilled Longbow Swordsmen - 8...

I don't think that's correct. The MF can't slide over because they're in contact (second bullet point on p71). In this situation, the staggered knights 8) can't reform. The MF :D /Knight :o units must try to conform. However due to the position, nothing is able to move without breaking the required ...

Yes this is all part of our promotional activities for the upcoming release of Panzer Corps! <snip> You can decide for yourself on D-Day - July 11th! Now that we're a month beyond the release date and that these potentially offensive German Nazi icons were used for that promotion, is there any chan...

Just out of interest, why is the fortified camp compulsory? Because the Roman army of that period routinely built fortified camps at the end of each day's march when on campaign. They only varied in the depth of the ditch and height of bank depending on the level of threat. But they aren't the only...

So your query is; 'when these two friendly BGs wheel away from each other, is it permitted for the rear ranks to 'pass through' each other as will be required to complete the wheel?' We've always assumed yes, provided the wheeling BGs do not end their move 'on top' of each other. I can't find anythi...

Tournament scoring resource
Hi all,
The tournament scoring document on the FOG website gives me a '404 error'.
Can anyone point me at a copy of the tournament scoring system or explain how it works?
Cheers

Bwahaha!!! I am the DESTROYER. Fear me. I don't object to the change of icons to WWII Mr Slitherine, but i do think its a poor choice to go with the Nazis, given the whole fascism/'final solution' thing. I'd suggest switching to Allied icons would be a far better, more politically and emotively sens...

Cheers Pete. Phew! Its clear as day under 'reforming', which we didn't look at in the heat of battle as that doesn't seem immediately obvious a place to find how to react to the contact. Cheers for the excellent advice. Actually, something else cropped up to do with a charging unit (UNIT A) being un...

Hi all, thanks for the responses. I have an additional question that arose in our last game and that we couldn't work out from the RAW, so your sage advice would be most welcome. OK... http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll102/sjhhej/Flankconform.jpg So we had an MF unit (UNIT A in the picture), redu...

Right. So in one game your opponent threw really good dice and now you want to change the rules because of it? Eight dice against a BG of four cavalry should result in four hits - that is a 50/50 (give or take) chance of disrupting and a 33% chance of losing a base. Over four rounds, they should be...

But that didn't beat Hannibal did it? Depends how holistically you view the engagements. The continual harrassments and denial of supplies through 'scorched earth' forced Hannibal to leave Italy (and return home, where he of course found little support as well), and then the Romans beat him as Zama...
