Re: Help me Obi-wan

And it's actually more fun to play the game with alien aggression set to at least High. As jdmillard says, that forces you to militarize sooner and be more careful with everything you do, especially to where you expand to. That will help you later as it doesn't allow you to get lazy. Oh, and the Tan...

Re: Help me Obi-wan

I find military power to be the key to survive in this game. You can have the strongest of the economies, the best research progress and be friends with almost everybody, but as soon as you neglect your military the AI will come to get you. And when they come it's often too late. If you want to play...

Re: AI doesnt ask for help

I think the hoovering window shows the relationship the diplo mechanism would give your faction towards other faction should you be played by AI.... so not really useful My interpretation of the relationship indicator displayed when you hover an AI in the diplo screen, is that it shows each third p...

Re: First Impressions & Concerns Thread

Yeah, the AI only gets stronger by cheating through bonus morale which doesn't matter for a while. How about buffing the headquarters defense strength, from say current 50% to 100% (or even more)? That should hold off early wipes, either from the AI or the Human, or at least it should make it much ...

Re: First Impressions & Concerns Thread

Divine can simply wipe the nearest civ off the map in virtually every game if they can make flamethrowers on the first research tier. Get that tech, put your citizens into production, spam as many soldiers as you can and take a stack of 7 -8 to the nearest NPC's town (they'll only have one). Take i...

Re: Difficulty levels

It seemed the AI tends to get more aggressive in the mid/late game once your borders start limiting their expansion. I've only played a couple all the way through though. Maybe I'm just used to games where the AI has massive bonuses (free units etc) at the start, so you always start behind and have...

Re: Difficulty levels

What was your Alien Aggression level? I find that playing with Medium or High is like playing two different games. At least in early game, which can make all the difference on the long run. It's also tougher on the AIs but at least it refrains you from expanding too quickly. I'm currently playing a ...

Praised event bug

The "Faction A praised faction B" event shows in reverse order. I (as Admiral Heid) praised Xi publicly and in the event log I got: "Prime Minister Xi praised Admiral Heid" (i.e. reversed as it should be). v1.0.2 I discovered the bug by accident when I saw this in the event long ...

Re: Sight Range question

I see. But then, if the fort was not on a hill it would't make much sense to see lake A, because the lake would be after a forest with a hill but your sight range logic would allow it to be seen. I guess a more physical elevation/blocking system would have been preferable, no? However, I understand ...

Sight Range question

Couldn't find the answer to this on the compendium. How exactly does sight range work? Which terrain(s) blocks sight? For example, why can I see A (after forest), see C (after two hills) but not B (after two hills)? What are the rules for the sight range? In the example below the colonial trooper ha...

Re: What's next?

The new near-term gameplay things we're currently considering are a marketplace, per-city taxes and turning all advancements from immediate gains into one-time buildable projects. However I feel that giving each city it's own tax slider would just increase micromanagement (something this game dodge...

Re: Suggestion: Building wealth is overpowered

The AI spreads his units so he doesn't get everything nuked in one blow. Then perhaps nukes should be toned down a bit? Right now I feel that they come too cheap and too fast. Cities can be well protected though, but having Lilith dropping 10 nukes at you every 10 turns like clock work is not somet...

Re: Fungus recolored

Nice job. However, I kind of prefer the original colors still. They're more hostile looking, less obvious and contrast better with the surrounding environment. My first impression only buddy, no offense. Perhaps others think otherwise.

Re: Suggestion: Building wealth is overpowered

Population (20 credits per pop), buildings (25% of purchase cost) and units (25% of purchase cost). In the next patch accumulated credits as well. Haa, must have been the units. The AIs (all of them) had swarms of units. They also had many tall cities. Everybody was friends, so, no wars, a zillion ...

Re: Suggestion: Building wealth is overpowered

I hope I can get to production re-ordering this week. Great! An update on my 2nd Economic victory attempt on High, Hard, Huge. Stagnated on 60% (producing +1300 cash flow) and switched to research but James beat me to it while I was at 54%. So, my attempts to rush an Economic victory so far have be...

Re: Suggestion: Building wealth is overpowered

My 2 cents on this issue. I lost my first Economy win attempt. An AI achieved a research victory first. This was on Hard, High, Large. In my current game with Noxium (Hard, High, Huge) I'm running again for an Economic victory but I'm advancing only 1%-2% each turn with a +900 cash flow (I'm at 52% ...

(Terminated) Non-Aggression Pact Bug

In my current game (Huge, Hard, High, Continents) playing with the Noxium I noticed a bug where everybody (or at least only the AIs who were furious towards a specific AI) gets a non-aggression pact (5 turns left) with that faction when any of them terminates a non-aggression pact with that specific...
