Re: Britcon 2019 Game 1 vs Classical Indians

Thanks for the write up Pete - it was a harsh introduction to the Indians and elephants in general for me! I surely lamented not taking the elephants in 3s, as at multiple points over the weekend elephant BGs went *pop* as if they were balloons thanks to my propensity for rolling 1s on the death rol...

Not sure that there is a UK stockist, I think you have to order direct from the states

Thanks for posting this David - I think I peaked too early with my Southern Dynasties hordes, but had five very enjoyable games where I learnt a few things, some of which may stick!

Re: Roll Call 2019

Tim has confirmed that the entire event has sold out apart from the 1 day Saga event. You are 1st reserve should anyone drop out. Pete - I've had my life organised for me so I'm afraid I won't be able to make the Roll Call weekend now after all, so you can take me off the reserve list - thanks for ...

Re: FOGN 2nd Edition

Are there new army lists to go with the 2nd Edition? I had my eye on these rules but that was about the time there was talk of a 2nd Ed, so I demurred. I might take the plunge this time though...

Internal allies are normally pointless
Agreed, but now some lists have compulsory internal allies I have to think about how to use them!

Re: Allied commanders/commands

Thanks for the advice. I can see the merits of taking an external ally especially if they bring some troop types not present in the main list. However it's the internal allies that are causing me a headache - especially if the troops available to them don't particularly add anything extra - the gall...

Allied commanders/commands

In the new army books there are a number of lists where an allied general is compulsory e.g. gallic/galatian. I've previously steered clear of allied generals as in spite of them being cheaper it leads to complications e.g. in where to deploy certain battle groups (depending on whether they're allie...

Re: Armies of the Americas

I have Mochica/Chimu, alas not in the new army books (except as allies). Suppose I should get an Aztec army at some point as all those impact foot look interesting, but there's a long queue for new armies at the moment.

I am rarely capable of winning, so play for fun instead!

Re: Britcon 2019 - What would you like to do?

I still like the idea of six games in a weekend - I don't get many games outside of competitions so the more I can pack in within a single weekend the better, however I could make do with five. Theme wise I'm not too fussed as I'm fortunate enough to have a large range of armies that will cover most...

Re: The new scoring system...

As a scrub usually at the bottom of any competition I actually don't mind the new scoring system. I think this is all psychology - the small number of puny hits I manage to get against my opponent translates into a slightly bigger score than the previous system - I don't mind that my opponent gets p...

Re: BHGS (& International) Challenge June 2/3 2018

Certain old lists contain troops who are listed as heavy weapon but from description are clearly Polearm(some are described as such). Examples include French ordinance polearms men, numerous billmen, halberdiers and naginata. Must these all be fielded as hvy wpn or is it permissible to use them as ...

Thanks very much for this Nik, the amendments seem to make sense and might persuade my local opponents to allow me to use this unofficial list!
