Combat AI (0.16.0)

I noticed in the new version that the AI is massing units more for attacks, but it's being incredibly stupid if it's attacking from another continent. I had 3-4 air units picking off transports unchallenged for a majority of the game I played. Also Orbital Bombardment is ridiculously powerful agains...

Re: AI units moving during my turn

Terraforming is working nicely, just wish it was automated, tedious work.

Re: AI units moving during my turn

Haven't tried with the new patch, and there's no patch notes, but I experienced it constantly in the game I played saturday. Will test with new patch tomorrow.

AI units moving during my turn

Noticed with the new version that AI units continue moving when my turn has begun. Is this intended or a bug? I can start doing things, but AI units are still moving around and attacking while I move my units around and the game slows down and lags a lot while this is going on.

Re: Some thoughts after 3 months of play

I don't think tanks moving 2 squares makes ATV's obsolete. ATV's are fast and cheap scout units, while tanks are heavy hitters and more expensive. Giving them the same amount of movement points doesn't make them mutually exclusive. Now, if we start talking about how air units make every other unit o...

Re: Some thoughts after 3 months of play

Upgrading is way too expensive, it's a complete waste of time as it is currently. At least add some techs or building types that reduce upgrade costs.

This definitvely be looked at. Having the AI plop cities in and around my territory is beyond annoying.

Re: Use Pandora Engine to make Alpha Centauri 2

EA has actually registered Alpha Centauri as a trademark in 2011 so chances are good they have something planned already.

Re: Use Pandora Engine to make Alpha Centauri 2

There's spiritual successors and there's sequels. Pandora is in essence already a spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri.

Sorry, but this is a pipe dream and there's no way they're going to do it.

Re: Use Pandora Engine to make Alpha Centauri 2

Electronic Arts owns the rights to Alpha Centauri so that's never going to happen. You can't just develop sequels to games you don't own the rights to.

Yes, it takes 5 turns for the first Orbital Bombardment to be available. It's not a bug per se, but it can be confusing.

Re: Enhancement requests for City Resource Management

Would be a nice addition. I would also love if the automated placement could be improved so it takes into account overall global shortages. I detest microing stuff like this and it makes the game very dull having to go through every city and fine tuning everything. And again, it would be nice to ass...

Expanded diplomacy/planetary council/diplomatic victory

Currently the diplomacy in the game is really underwhelming and I would love for it to be expanded with a lot more options for trade and intimidation. I would also love to see some from of planetary council, hell one of the technologies even hints at something like this. This is a big part of what I...

Economic victory makes no sense

I have this in my suggestion thead as well, but I feel it warrants a thread of its own to discuss it more closely. Currently the economic victory means having a giant pile of money which is both unfeasible and boring. In my mind an economic victory means that your GDP greatly outstrips the rest of t...

Expansion too fast

Am I the only one that feel expansion is happening too fast? I like exploring and picking out good sites to place cities, but right now it feels like a massive landgrab to compete with the AI. I would love if there was some sort of hindrance to expanding too fast like negative morale or having to re...

Re: 0.15.2 Update has much slower AI

I have noticed a slowdown in the later stages of the game on medium sized worlds. I haven't even bothered with huge worlds.

I wouldn't say the slowdown between turns is that bad though, I think at the worst point it was taking maybe between 10-15 seconds to process a turn.
