Re: Mathematicians, playing Empires often makes me tired.

I think seasonal might be doable provided production turns were still yearly (ie, every 4 turns). I find that most of my turn time is taken up by building choices and production. Plotting troop movement is a relatively minor chore. So if production was limited to one season (ie, Winter), and movemen...

Re: Objective expiration

I should add though, recent patches have made it less cruel ... you wont lose an objective in an adjacent region now, IIRC.

Re: Objective expiration

I'm going to dissent. Objectives come from the whim of your ruler, and rulers can be a fickle lot. So it's immersive, plus I like the gameplay aspect of occasionally having to shift strategy on short notice, it's a nice challenge having to adapt.

Re: Provincial Units Infographic - Full List

Is it just me, or . . . are Italian Foot kinda crap? Great for sieges and swamp battles, and far cheaper than Legions and Alae respectively. Ah okay. So they don't get disrupted in swamp tiles? Are they better than any other unit for sieges or just a very cost-effective option, say as good as legio...

Re: Quarry -> Large quarry

It is still a lousy pick in most circumstances isn't it? Or do you take it in the hope of unlocking marble? I mention this in my commentary, but oddly enough, I find myself building these regardless. If you have one slot remaining and the other 5 choices take up a slot, I'll go for the zero slot up...

The picture ingame only lists the changes... the strategy guide lists the building.. the difference is the quarry already present in the province...
So for infrastructure the large quarry adds an additional 6 infra for example..
Yep!

I would like to ask my client state NOT to send his armies wandering around my territory. Typically, it is just annoying, but now I find they are dominating my armourers and the like, sucking up the upgrades ahead of my troops. Really sneaky of them.
Clever little buggers!

Re: Grognerd's Guide is FINISHED!

The guide is awesome btw :) I am using it as a reference guide as it is so well done and easy to read! One slight notice though, the guide mentions Roman legions can't build a Roman Camp (or Public Works etc) if the legion is moving; that is not correct (even though the tooltip in game seems to sug...

Re: seleucid CDR !

Seleucids at the start of the game are economically a mess. It is very challenging. As far as the CDR goes, 4 is great for the mid to late game, but might not cut it early game, as there are lots of smaller countries out there with no accumulated Decadence that could bump you down the chart regardle...

Re: Grognerd's Guide is FINISHED!

Question about Sulfur. Campania has it as a "Natural Resource." There seems to be no "mine" which "produces" it. Rather, in skimming your steam guide, I see a "Sulfur Emporium" which apparently is only accessible by "Decision" and requires Tier II or III commerce eligibility. This seems to lead to ...

Re: Question: Military Training Bonus Buildings Outside Provincial Capital? Useless?

A couple of comments: 1) This guide is actually a plagerism of my Steam Guide. Almost word per word. Fascinating. 2) I say almost, because I had updated that paragraph after the 1.04 patch. The current and correct para in my Guide reads as follows: “A general note on Military structures (updated for...

Grognerd's Guide is FINISHED!

As many of you know, I wrote a mostly complete Steam Guide for Field of Glory: Empires, under my stream name of Grognerd. And I made a vow to myself that I would fully finish the Guide before the year was out. And I kept that vow ... with 6 hours to spare! The now fully complete Grognerd's Guide to ...

Re: Comments on peace treaties and other deals

I did a livestream of the diplomacy beta today, as Judea. You can see the video here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/525397514 Basically it echos what others here have said, it's tough to gain regions, even those you've occupied, as part of a peace deal. I was a bit surprised there was no war score di...

Re: Broken Objective System

Give each faction objective provinces, like in Total War Rome 2. For every turn that provincial control is disrupted, they don't gain VPs for it. The concept of random, changing objective cities seems arbitrary and has also kept me from going back to the game. Before dynamic objectives, we had fixe...

Re: The battle deployment logic is still an issue...

The devs are aware, and the problem is a tricky one. Having the elephants go in the second row if not enough room in the first is, I think, kind of a nice bit of design-for-effect. There were battles were elephants stampeded and such, and made the battle worse for you, not better. So having them bum...

Re: Coordinating Movement to Lift Siege

My feeling is, given that communications between two friendly armies in the ancient world had to be conducted by courier, there should be great difficulty in coordinating any attack between two armies ... especially one where one army is under siege and couriers would have to somehow sneak through e...
