Re: News

I take it from playing about with the army builder there has there been a change of points values for some troop types? If you download the excel list builder mentioned earlier you can see the points changes. Don't know if I want to return to FOG from ADLG but will definitely give it a good look/tr...

Re: News

Why has there not been an official announcement on this forum? It seems a bit odd. Possibly because it has nothing to do with Slitherine? But yes, perhaps if we all lobbied Terry he might make an official announcement :) Would that not also apply to this whole sub-forum (Field of Glory 3.0 Beta) ? ...

Re no knights - using the pre 1040 AD date for the introduction of knights or allowing armies from post 1040, just ones without knights?

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I remain unconvinced that any change is required.

Re: FoG:R Update - Better Armour PoA

The easiest answer is to leave things as they are. I really don't see this as an issue.

Re: Subsidary weapons for chariots

No to both, bow armed light chariots and spear armed light are an evens fight in melee and light spear is for impact, not shooting. The light spear would count in impact, neither have a POA in of themselves, so the "mounted light spear +" counts giving the Mycenaeans the advantage in that ...

Re: Mounted Points

I was firmly in the "make them cheaper" camp, but I'm now not quite so sure. I'm not convinced that the perceived problem extends past DH, and I think that there are ways of making DH more cost effective against other mounted without changing the points system. My experience is that HA Cui...

Re: FoG:R Update - Better Armour PoA

I have only two issues with the rules as written, the first is captured artillery, which I've commented on in the relevant thread. The second is the cost v effectiveness of DH. My view is that the use or lack of armour is handled well at the moment, and really doesn't need looking at as a way of sor...

Re: Captured Artillery

Remove if captured, or allow them to be moved through normally. We aren't talking about properly organised limbers, caissons and assorted support wagons here. Movement pre battle was either by contractors and/or impressed locals, who would leg it with their valuable animals as soon as battle lines w...

I'll get Chef Eric to do the draw tonight at the club so there are fewer shouts of "fix" than might otherwise be the case. Honest John will be there to insist on fair play ........ I'll aim to post the draw out early tomorrow morning so that it provides a focus for basho goers car trip co...

Re: SETUP and DEPLOYMENT

Do you reroll the terrain placement roll until you get a result of 1-4 or does the piece get discarded? As it stands the proposal is that the piece would be discarded. But if there is sufficient feedback from games that too many pieces are being discarded the proposed change could be amended to all...

Re: AARs

I don't think that using the horse archers as a single line would work against cavalry opponents, you'd get pushed off the table in jig time unless you get lucky with your shooting die rolls, same with a load of LH. It's obviously a known risk, but if your shooting doesn't work (you are only gettin...

Re: AARs

I thought the huge amount of dice at impact was great fun. When my elites hit Paul's average Spanish we both lost 2 bases at impact. He did 7 hits I did 11 IIRC The additional dice question, other than making impact more important. Is it making it more predictable? Well I expected to win, but I did...

Re: AARs

However, combat was brutal. It quickly became apparent that losing impact meant a world of pain. Did you see (and perhaps could not with army design) any advantage given this that you might opt for 6 average vs 4 superior? or 6 protected vs 4 Armored? The Scythians don't have an option to be protec...
