I would probably go with Gripping Beast over Westwind I own some of both and the GB is superior. Westwind also doesn't have great customer service in my experience.

The no-dachi being gone by the Sengoku era and the katana being used before that period is completly counter to everything I know about the armies at the time.

For me it is a combination of the historical aspect and the gameplay.

I'd take less Scotts , but what I have there is the minimum , there has to be a min of 16 Longbow and 8 men at arms ? No, Minimum of 4 men-at-arms and 8 Longbow. I think the biggest problem with the list as you have it is how do all of the components work together. A large part of your force is ver...

I played today and suffered a horrible defeat serving nothing more than a speedbump for my opponent. Part of it was the four turns where I rolled nothing higher than a 2, but I also made some deployment errors. One thing I can't figure out is the Men-at-arms ability to interpenetrate the Longbowmen....

It is Storm of Arrows.

So basically any generic/peasant looking javelinmen will do?

Anyone?

Would it be safe to use models normally reserved for older eras such as Late Romans or similiar?

I would like to see more themed tourneys but I hate playing outside of era. I really don't even like playing for example an ordannance French Army with an early HYW themed English army.

Why should I not include light guns?

I thought they would be a good cheap backup to the Longbowmen.

Assuming equal skill between a samurai with katana and a foot knight with broadsword I would expect the samurai to come out with the POA advantage... although as I've admitted I'm biased :P There are almost no parts of a foot knight's armour that the katana can penetrate. Whereas the broadsword... ...

That is a good point as well, I am really not interested in the Sengoku era before 1545 when the arquebus was introduced and am not interested after 1585 when the shogunate was pretty much wrapped up in one way or another. The whole korea thing is a big yawn fest for me. So in short I will probably ...

The number of hattamoto a Daimyo would have varied considerably as did the Hattamoto's actual effectiveness and skill. Continueing with nobunaga as an example he could call upon 4000 hattamoto during the height of his power. I still would not consider these Elite even though they are hattamoto. In h...

HYW English looking for opinions on list design

I am piecing together a HYW English (Continental) army at 650 points for this weekend. I already have an idea of what I am going to be bringing but I have only played a single game of FoG and that was against a HYW English (Continental) army with a HYW Medieval French army. My question mainly concer...

The mistake everyone on here seems to be making is the assumption that all samurai should be treated equally. Each of the major clans in the period had their own ways of fighting and there are some things that can be grouped together like the Samurai's tendency to wade into battle and the Ashigaru's...
