Re: A "Pacific Corps" should be made

Yes, People's General is a fairly good take on modern units in a Panzer General Game Engine. I thought it second best of the whole General Series (after Panzer General, but before Star General and even Fantasy General.)

Re: A "Pacific Corps" should be made

Panzer Corps Gold : "Back when we released the U.S. Corps packs we told you they would be the last DLCs for the Panzer Corps series, but we never said that the path of Panzer Corps had come to an end. Millions of people enjoyed Panzer Corps in the last few years: it’s been a long and epic ride, but...

Re: US Corps advice

Yes, I can only reiterate some of the above but make the following observations. Each playable country has it's own playing style, based on the strengths and weaknesses of it's unit sheets. With the Germans, Russians, and even English, they have decent to great tanks and you have tremendous flexibil...

Re: So, US Corps campaign.....

I haven't heard this specifically, but if this is true there are a LOT of Western Front battles that do not get "covered" that I'd be interested in slogging through as the US. I was never one for Eastern Front military history, but one of the fun things of the PC GC East campaigns was learning the h...

Question about Lodz Scenario (GC39)

I've taken a look around the forums and never found straight answers, so I'll ask it here: What's with the giant army on the northern edge of the map? Is it triggered to come down south? Or are you supposed to stumble into it? Why are some units in trains? Do you get extra prestige or units if you h...

Re: Why use the Bridge Layer Unit?

I personally avoid bridging units if at all possible. Usually scenarios that absolute require bridge units will provide them as auxiliary units. EDIT: To answer the question directly, there are only a few scenarios where you need one, making this unit a very specific tool for a very specific, and of...

Re: how to use AT units?

I also have settled on the 88-then-StuG IV approach. Towed AT guns are most useful in defensive scenarios, and there just aren't that many of them early in the war; but the 3-hex range of the 88 in AA mode makes it useful even on the offense. The 88 can't be upgraded to a different AT, but its usef...

Re: After Soviet Corps?

Yeah, that would be a great idea. I actually just played both of these scenarios for the first time ever just last week. They were the hardest scenarios I have played in a few years due to both unit inexperience, and truth be told my own inexperience in handling new units in the face of tough oppone...

Re: how to use AT units?

I don't really bother with AT for the first few years, and avoid the towed units entirely. In the GC you are given a Jagerpanzer mobile unit, and I usually buy or capture another and use both until there is a star or so of experience, then mothball them until the Stug IV comes out. The artillery\AT ...

Re: My Panzer Corps game is melting down!

Be careful about which order you install the games and expansion packs as well. I believe they have to be installed by release date. I know there is a link to the proper order floating around here somewhere.. [edit: ah here it is]: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=146&t=43664&p=413220...

Re: Your most favorite/hated scenario

Heyo, it's been a while but I'm going to get back into it as soon as Soviet Corps becomes available! My PG favourites are the big unit, big map scenarios ones where you use a lot of units for multiple-axis attacks. Budapest45 is pretty much near the tops for me, while one of the Kursk scenarios (can...

Re: Messina - Catanzaro

Hmm, maybe I did not get the right patch, but I was able to carry my Italian auxiliaries up until the end. I deployed enough to get the DV at Messina, but I still had a bunch of units in my deployment screen. Much like V2s I could deploy them but they would then not carry over to the next scenario i...

Re: Most hated scenarios

Much like what IttoOgami mentioned, I'm not a fan of the grinding scenarios - frankly, they require too much focus for my playing style. Oboyan is a highlight due most due to the time constraint. After lots of scenarios with forgiving turn limits, you suddenly have a clock where every single unit ha...

Re: 1939-1945 GC Mega Pack balance?

Yes, they mimic the rise and fall of the 3rd Reich in terms of RP availability and force deployments. From 1939 up to the Kursk campaign you do whatever you can to gather RPs to expand and upgrade your forces. Lots of capturable equipment, lots of victory RPs. After that the focus is to conserve. In...

Re: Elite units in Allied Corps - too many fighters!

Truth be told, after my run-throughs with Allied Corp, I thought the only elite units were fighters! I read only later that you can get para and commando units. Still haven't gotten a non-fighter SE, although I wasn't as impressed with Allied Corps, so it will be a while until I try again.

Lol yes! I want Soviet Corps (if it ever came out) to have T-28s! It's like the CharB of the Russian army.

Re: Favorite tank topic

I'm actually a huge fan of the early Allied tanks you can capture in GC40 and GC41E - the two Matilda and the two CharBs. They are slow, but big and tough for their time, and they are great in certain situations. In particular I find they work very well as second-line tanks, moving with and supporti...

Re: Anyone else here at work on a Saturday?

Yep, I do. I work for a home heating company, so in winter we work 24-7, either from home or the office. It is compensated by having a really easy-going 5x8 schedule the other 8-9 months of the year.

Can't wait for the thaw, lol.
