Thanks for your reply; You made some good points and I never understood the Mulberry rule, so thanks for explaining that. Maybe that is what Vokt meant about supply in Northern Germany.by Stauffenberg » 12 Nov 2017 18:42

Re: GS 4.0 AAR (last update) Plaid (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
by Vokt » 11 Nov 2017 11:30 Another downside of directly landing in Northern Germany is the supply issues that Allies have to undergo. Supply: The first thing the landing has to do is get a port to get supply level 3. Landing in France in 1944 all the ports are forts and are sometimes hard to captu...

Re: GS 4.0 AAR (last update) Plaid (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
by Stauffenberg » 10 Nov 2017 19:30 So this is only possible if the Luftwaffe is broken or the Axis have run out of oil. In this game, I do not believe the Luftwaffe is broken or out of oil. The much more common problem is: I think the Luftwaffe was out of range for the critical turn that the trans...

Re: GS 4.0 AAR (last update) Plaid (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
by Stauffenberg » Fri Nov 10, 2017 7:30 pm One good thing about landing in France is that you get air range to bombard the Axis units defending. As far away as Germany you can't protect bombers striking the Axis units. By 1944 the allies fighters have range to escort TACs and SACs to Hamburg with f...

Re: GS 4.0 AAR (last update) Plaid (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
Landing in Northern Germany looks like a game killer, it's over for the Germans !
Makes me wonder why should I ever do a D-day in France again?
All I know is a fully manned Siegfried line sure is a pain in the ass for the Allies.

Re: GS 4.0 AAR (last update) Plaid (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
Why didn't the Allies just paratroop directly into the empty cities of Wilhemshaven and Bremen?
Seems like if you paratroop into the two empty cities and also paratroop into the two rail stations, then the Germans cannot rail anything near the beaches?

Re: GS 4.0 AAR (last update) Plaid (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
First, Thanks Vokt for doing the AAR, I really like looking at them! I really appreciate the work you have put into the AAR! :D The position looks really close to historic position. But I think the Allies have built to many TACs and SACs and not enough Fighters. I think the Allies have to get air su...

Re: GS 4.00 beta Plaid vs Vokt (Allied AAR)
[quote="Plaid"] Turn 82 - February 7, 1944 Fair weather came early and suddenly large German counterattack occured in France. Lots of good units involved, both ground and air. Now I am not sure about the fate of Allied landing, might even lose all my forces in France. What is this? Vokt st...

Re: GS 4.00 beta Plaid vs Vokt (Allied AAR)
Why launch the Soviet winter offense in the north ? to many rivers and all that forest up there.
Why not the clear open terrain south of Orel ? You would have a three hex attack on the SS Mech in Kursk, or I would of liked a two hex attack on a German armour unit on the front line in the clear?

Re: flybirda(Axis)vCarlos(Allies)
The Axis game plan seemed to be throw everything the Axis have at the Russians and beat the Russians so hard during the Summers of 1941 1942 and 1943 that you can coast to a victory. It seems like a good plan, as you can see in the AAR where Duncan's Russians and Supermax Russians were wiped off the...

Re: flybirda(Axis)vCarlos(Allies)
It looks bad for the Russians, the Russians have Leningrad , Moscow, Omsk and the Caucasus. The Germans have the rest of the country. The Russian pp is around 105. The Russians let the Germans across the Don. I thought sucking the Germans into supply 3 area would aid the Russian side of the fight. R...

Re: flybirda(Axis)vCarlos(Allies)
Honestly, I didn't expect the Soviets retreating from the battle near Gorki. IMO, it wasn't the best move since they lost the good positions they held along the Volga and Oka rivers. Soviet armoured forces have been too passive. Furthermore, to leave that Soviet armoured exposed in the forests wasn...

Re: flybirda(Axis)vCarlos(Allies)
really don't understand why Carlos abandon Stalingrad in winter ? This is my first 4.0 game and it seemed like the Russians lost more units in the Summer of 41 than I was expecting. So I was expecting the Summer of 42 to be even worse! So to save Russian units I decided to abandon Stalingrad in Win...

Flybird's Barbarossa is Blitzkrieg at its finest! Calvary, plus one attack in the clear terrain, who cares! Able to move five hexes in the forest, now you're talking, give me a full batch of those, I think it is seven Calvary. Those seven Calvary will be at Leningrad before you can form a line. Flyb...

Sea Spotting of ground units is 2 hexes in fair weather and you've got a partisan there!
