Re: Unrealistic personnel names and photos

Hello, When the game was launched in "early access", there were different tiers available. The "Apollo Tier" was a good way to support the project and offered you amongst other things to send a pic and have your name featured ingame as an Astronaut, Mission Controller or SET pers...

Re: When did you land on the moon?

Gemini EOR? I just looked at that, it's awful! You've got the Gemini itself to research, though that can be pretty good by the time you start the programme, but there's also the Gemini service module, the lunar lander, and TWO spacesuits. Most of these things start at 3%, and every mission uses all...

Re: Cost of "tiger teams"

I think for myself that too cheap "Tiger Teams" would simply make the game too easy. They have a real impact on the game, especially when your Mission Controllers aren't super-trained. Also, it really depends of the mission type. My personal guideline is not to use them for unmanned probes...

Re: Ideas for the future of SPM

Well, a space-stations-centered BASPM Part 2 would make a lot of sense, IMHO. Servicing and supplying them with spacecraft such as Soyuz-T/TM/TMA/TMA-M, Apollo/Orion/Dragon/CST-100 or Shuttles (including a few mini-shuttles derived from the HL-20 or the PKA ?) would be part of that. I also agree tha...

Re: When did you land on the moon?

Achieved the Soyuz LOK lunar landing in 1971 Q4. Not too proud of myself, but casualties limited to 3 cosmonauts. I planned poorly the N1 development, which got in late. Quite realistic in fact ! After a quiet start, the AI was very challenging mid-game then went on a "full Gemini" strateg...

Re: Is the game balanced?

No, playing NASA or USSR has no other impact on the gameplay than giving you access to different hardware. Now of course, some hardware is more prone to failure than some other. Notice than one of the worst of the game (but also one of the cheapest) is the Voskhod. Also Soviets have excellent rocket...

Re: Suggestion for More 'Dead End' Programs

On another note, I had a question about research. Do missions have an affect on the rate of research improvement on a program? Hello, Yes they do. When a component performs correctly during a mission (a rocket can perform perfectly and the mission can still be a failure because the spacecraft fails...

Re: Real Astronauts in BASPM

Problem is not about finding them, but about rights  Yuri Gagarin is quite a world-wide icon, so featuring is name his safe. Buzz Aldrin is associated to the game project, so he allows the use of his image. Pretty much all the others 'nauts rights are strictly controlled by families, NASA (whi...

Re: Suggestion for More 'Dead End' Programs

That's an interesting idea, though the game is already featuring quite a lot of programs :) The planetary probes are definitively a kind of "non-essential". The Soviets have access to a bunch of such missions to Venus & Mars, while NASA can literally explore all the Solar System from t...

Re: Is the game balanced?

A lot of the early game is luck. The more I play the game the more I feel how 'luck' is related to my employees skills. So if I could give an advice, it would be to take MC and flight crews training very seriously from the beginning. It makes the difference. Now, of course, you're never 100%...

Re: Personnel from game to game

Hello,

The skills of the personnel are definitively random-generated. Well, of course there are "rules" that balance that random-generation, but you'll get different results each game.

Glad you liked the Soviet program, put a lot of myself into it 8)

Re: music

Hello, As it is the case the game for the extreme majority of the games, the audio composer, Christian Fernando Perrucchi, mostly used a synth to make the soundtracks, so what you hear are actually digital samples of real instruments. Hiring a full symphonic orchestra for several tracks with choirs ...

Re: Got to the Moon in 1975

I had decent results upgrading the SET only in 1958, to have it operational for the first 1959 (new budget review) season. The thing is that 2 scientists by project is usually enough for early programs.

Hello Peyre, First thanks for the work you did on Race Into Space, I played it a lot (and I mean a lot !). About the dates, I'd say it was 1993 and 1994, am I correct ? I'm not sure that PCs with CD-drive were very common in '84  I bought (well, my father bought for me !) the CD version in 199...

Re: Future improvement

Hello clem59285, BASPM : Road to the Moon, as its name suggest, is focused on the Moon Race that took place in the 1955-1975 era (roughly). Episode 2 is probably going to be focused on Space Stations, and Episode 3 on manned Mars exploration. Notice that there are a lot of random parameters in the g...

Re: Patch 1.1 crash

Might be a problem of corrupted download. It happened to me once, had to download again the package.

Still, be sure to post this in the "Technical Support" subsection of the forums, I'm pretty sure the guys there will be able to help you.
