Re: What do you think about this list for Russian Inf Corps?

I don't think this is legal. Your forth division needs at least 3 units unless there is something special which allows them to break that.

Re: Rules on Arty V Cav

From memory/my understanding, and I reply as much to see if I'm right as anything else. :) > Is there a Combat resolution/outcome move (pp60-61 ) ? No there is not. If they could not charge any other unit because their original target evaded/abandoned the guns then they complete their move. > The ar...

Re: Attachments: Base Exchange or...

This is where 6mm on a 30 x30 or larger base may come into it's own. As with a few more figs you can model attachments with the line units. Cavalry can really be shown with lines of infantry. Hmmm....

Re: Cavalry Attachment

The rules states the criteria that this applies on page 50. So the attachment only counts IF the attachment is any of the targeted units (even if assigned no dice is how I read it). Otherwise it does not count for this POA.

Re: Skirmish Formation

I'm still going through the rules but I think this is wrong: > 4x1: Extended Line OR Skirmish* I don't believe there is skirmish as a formation per say as far as base structure on the table. A unit in structure can be in as you listed without that. Page 83 shows Light infantry troops should have hav...

Très beau.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. For the record, English has the word Epaulettes (the shoulder straps) which comes from épaulettes - so I think everyone understood your comment on that.

Re: newbie question on painting French units

Hi guys, I have not tried the rules before. So far I like what I see. The guys in the city have been playing Lasalle for a few years with 15mm and that's a cool set for that scale of game. A few of us are looking at FOG-N for a different scale of game and period of game. So it's 15mm for me at prese...

newbie question on painting French units

I'm thinking about starting to painting some 1808-12 French units in 15mm what is the 'typical way' of representing the different uniform's (plumes, pompon and shako trim colours etc.) of companies in a regiment on the table? I am planning on using 8 figs per base so that the figs can be used with L...

Re: Field of Glory Napoleonic books arrived!

I'm not a very knowledgeable person for this period rules and not had much chance to read the rules but they look ok and not TOO complicated so far. They look a little more complex than the lasalle set which we play and are well respected around here, but not that much more. At the same time lasalle...

Re: QQ 6mm

The big difference I think we have is that I believe 6mm is not just for people who suck at painting, and dismiss it out of hand. Smaller scale does not automatically equate to poor quality results. :) Check out some of the 6mm painting from good painters - they can do impressive displays and they r...

Re: QQ 6mm
6mm is for people who suck at painting....just get the 15's and put a little effort in
Not to start a flame war but I disagree completely with your statement. I've painted a lot of all scales and have a huge 15mm Prussian 1812 army which I did last year. However, e...

Re: QQ 6mm

Well I'm thinking that for 6mm, especially as the rules are regimental level, doing 6mm figures on the 28mm bases would be impressive on the table. So, I'd maybe using the typical 60mm x 30mm for a base would work - after all too much depth would make them look odd, and depth is not key according to...

Hmmm....thanks for the comments. Impetus is quite popular around here and gaining more players for friendly games. I enjoy the game myself and it does play well - but it's not for the rules lawyers/serious competition player out there. The impetus bases done well can look so cool compared to the tra...

Using impetus style scenic bases for FOG

Has anyone though of using/tried using 'impetus rules' style bases for FoG ? i.e. rather than using a normal single base with figs on, those bases are 2 x 2 the normal FOG size (for all other than skirmishers & elephants which are twice as wide and just 1 base depth deep). The bases often have fewer...

They are great for skirmish games and can be finished off too look really cool with paint effects etc. For FoG as mentioned the only issue would be moving troops around. It should be ok and would definitely make the table look good.

Being English they very likely would have had the St George cross up in the corner, but pretty much anything else is possible. Some may have been very plain, others are likely to have been quite ornate or multiple colours and may even include symbols/writing etc. That was to my reading more common f...

MIGSCON 2010 demo game report

This past weekend we ran a giant demo game of the English Civil war in Ontario, Canada a local convention called MIGSCON. It was Scots Covenanters (England 1644 list) vs. late Royalist at 1750 pts each side. The game last close to 9 hours but was played to completion during the event. We had four 'm...
