Updated Manual for latest version?

Can we please get a "sticky" for the CEAW GS Manual, including all of the most recent changes? (Does such a thing even exist?) If the Manual hasn't been updated, would it be possible to create a sticky with the most recent Manual + logs of changes since that point? I hesitate to ask this f...

Re: AAR : Supermax (Axis ) vs Morris (Allies)

Leave it to Max and Morris to show (again!) the unexpected fireworks possible in this game! Max has stated more than once that he's more interested in fun/fascinating games than merely winning. Well, it looks like he got his wish this time, in spades. Kudos to both of you for an amazing game, and th...

Re: GS v4.0 paratrooper issues

I agree that the Sicily gar blob is just silly. That being said, however, we do have a problem with Italy, IMO. I have posted elsewhere on this forum in the past re: the fact that when Italy falls at or near the historical date in 1943, the Axis loses every time. There are no exceptions in the AAR r...

Duncan, if possible could you capture in the screen shots info. on the dates, etc? Helps to have some perspective to know what turn it is, see the minimap, etc.

Cheers

Re: Plaid (Axis) vs Morris (Allies) GS 4.0 game

Thanks for the AAR. This is typical Morris so far: harass and harass with the British with no thought to the cost. He always treats the UK as expendable, so long as he can distract or drain resources from the Axis. Maybe one way to make him pay for this strategy is to get aggressive vs convoys. If y...

Re: GS v4.0 paratrooper issues

I wonder if what's called for is to prohibit drops into "major" cities--i.e. ones with production value. Given the 20-day time scale of CEAW turns + the fact that paras cannot move on the turn they drop, it should be possible to drop "into" smaller cities, rail depots, etc. Consi...

Re: CEAW 4.0: First Impressions

At the risk of repeating myself, I urge the development team to "measure twice, cut once." Are we sure we really have a problem here? Yes, if it really were true that the Early Blitz became an Axis uber-strategy, that would pose a problem. But I feel that people are over-reacting to a coup...

Re: CEAW 4.0: First Impressions

were mop ups, gathering prisoners, refitting tired and spread out troops etc., all things the Wehrmacht had to do - and did. The idea that it should take two turns is pretty much correct. What you say is true, but it's also true that the German typically has tons of units in and all around Poland i...

[quote="Stauffenberg"]The questions is then if we should do as Vokt suggested and add the Modlin fortifications 1x of Warsaw and place a garrison unit there.quote] I vote a resounding "No!" My reasoning: 1. Poland really ought to fall in 1 turn, not 2. Historically, the Polish go...

Re: Growing the CEAW player base?

Folks, Now that GS 4.0 is up and running, I want to follow through with this concept. I am planning to send PMs (via this forum) to pretty much everyone who has posted on this forum in the last several years. The message will be pretty simple: GS 4.0 for PC & Mac is now available (links to the r...

Re: CEAW 4.0: First Impressions

so that means you are giving up Spain without an real effort or loss on the Axis and could easily lose the UK to Sealion - just look at Plaids AAR he will take Paris the first fine turn of February, it just takes a bit of fine weather to get to this position - Paris could have fallen Feb 8th it had...

Re: CEAW 4.0: First Impressions

And specifically, Axis "Close the Med" and Middle East oilfields strategies are significantly favoured by the recent changes. Hmmm... I must be missing something then. Unless there's a successful Sealion, how does the Axis take Egypt? Again, I may be missing something, but it looks to me ...

CEAW 4.0: First Impressions

Since Xmas I've been experimenting vs. the AI and doing solo Hotseat games, getting a feel for the new version. Here are some early impressions: *With proper tactics, Poland is a 1-turn thing. With horrible rolls you can still fail, but my success rate is roughly 80% in multiple trials. *I love the ...

A big "Thank You!" (+ a technical question)

What a great Xmas present! Thanks once again to the developers of the latest, greatest version of this great game.

P.S. I read somewhere that in 4.0 Strat bombers can opt to bomb units in cities, instead of reducing the city's production #. How is this done, exactly? A hotkey, I assume?

...The red circles with numbers in indicates leaders and the number is the command range. It makes it easier to place commanders and ensure you cover the important front sections. Growing the CEAW player base?

Folks, Once GS 4.0 becomes generally available, I suggest that we take on the challenge of spreading the word and expanding the number of active players of CEAW. Yes, I know that the game is founded on an aging platform, but so many hundreds, nay thousands, of hours have been put into refining this,...

Re: CEAW GS 4.0?

Would there be an interest for some players to download GS v4.0 via a ZIP file until the installer is up (similar to the beta testers)? If so we can hear with Slitherine if they could accept such a solution pending the installer to be released. The downside with the ZIP version is that if something...
