Re: Grand Campaign West.

I decided to take a break from the East and started the West. I'm beginning Gironde. Right now I have 4 infantry. Unlike in the East, there are no more infantry coming at all. How many infantry units are a good number to have since I'll have to build them instead of other types? Thanks for any opin...

Re: Love it or Hate it? Panzer General "Pop-Up" Battle

My favorite sequence was that when you hit Shermans and their towers flew away, burning and spinning (which was, as I read about recently, not that much common, and its almost a legend that Shermans would burn so fast. But at one point in old PG I shut the pop-ups off, because it was saving a lot of...

Re: New Panzer Corps is the old Panzer Corps?

There are three major gripes (amongst other never patched) I have with Panzer Corps 1 which I hope are fixed for Panzer Corps 2, otherwise I'm not really interested in purchasing the game. The first is the crazily inaccurate wild "normal" combat resolution setting where a 4-star Tiger attacks a 1-s...

I'd like to play the old Panzer General with Panzer Corps rules, but I think this doesn't exist, also.

Re: Struggling on GC '43 East

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I tried to play a little more deliberately and am now entering Kursk South (Yakovlevo sp?) with 10250 prestige and all units at full strength but I have not done any of the upgrades yet. I definitely like the Wespe! I am reluctant to disband my 2 SPAA due to the ev...

Re: Soviet Corps Campain

I'd say its not a beginners campaign. Difficulty is a bit non-linear here, the 3 to 5th scenario in the first campaign (especially the 5th one) are among the toughest overall. You will see some new concepts, especially retreatment hexes where you can retreat units and the bring in new ones. The Red ...

Re: Favourite Scenarios

GC West (not finished): Eindhoven Thats one of the toughest regarding to get a certain Decisive Victory (not to win generally). Took me quit some time to figure out how to get a sure DV. This map feels also a bit like a slog once you figure out that there quite some possibilities how to handle the ...

Re: Favourite Scenarios

If you get El Agheila in time, you will get reinforcements to aid your attack.. Aha, there's my excuse for losing 'Second Offensive' then, I got no reinfs..:) I got back to EA in time but my Afrika Korps was on its knees crying out for replacement points but I didn't have any and the British just k...

Re: Favourite Scenarios

I agree that the campaigns do get to be a slog. When you get to having to move 50+ units for 20+ turns, while the AI moves 150+ (at least over the course of the game) the turns do get quite long and it does get a tad tedious. However, if you like relatively small and short scenarios, I'd suggest yo...

Re: Favorite tank topic

I think the best "Jack of all trades" tank is the british Churchill Crocodile. Its not only a flame throwing tank but due to its heavy armor is quite able to survive encounters with the German tanks 1944/1945 and even packs "some" Punch against other tanks. The most dominant tank in its period are I...

Re: Yours favorite movies about WWII

It has been massively criticized because of lack of historical accuracy. Is that true?. I saw it the day it released. I was very disappointed and let down by it. Practically every historical movie gets criticised for being inaccurate. But Dunkirk is unique for me in that regard. I noticed one big i...

Re: any tricks for gaining fifth star with AA?

I have a 4 star (heroed - M+1 A+3) which has stopped gaining experience after about 410, it has a kill total of 1189. I know it is a very complcated formula for gaining experience (http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=147&t=72079) but does anyone know a way of persuading/tricks to contin...

Re: Favourite Panzer Corps expansion?

For me it is also Afrika Korps. First thing, Gazala is way ahead my favorite map in the PK games. You can try so many different tactics, and win with all of them. I think also, of all campaigns the scripted events work best here. Then I prefer large but not too crowded maps. Most AK Scenarios are se...

Re: Panzer Corps 2

I would like to have a little hint how much prestige the enemy has at hand. If it only is shown at the beginning of a scenario, or hinted indirectly in the mission briefing/scenaro messages. This would be only a little change, but make a big difference for decisions. At the moment, it is totally unc...

Re: Good World War 2 Books

Oh, there are so many. No wonder the "juggernauts" are mentioned, those big books covering the whole war like Shirer, Beevor and so on. Won't say they are not great reads, but often they miss out what happened tactically on the battlefield. A great book that views cautiously the operational scale is...

Re: Battlefield: Europe MOD v1.7

I know its explained somewhere, but I cannot find it anymore:

If I have installed Battlefield: Europe and want to play the standard campaign and the DLCs, how do I switch the Mod off?
I know I can do them with the Mods rules and limitations, but I rather would have the normal thing for that.
