Re: Shooting Dice for Musket/Musket *

Aha, so I have, thanks. So if a BG has 4 shooting bases in total it would fire with 3 at short range and 2 at long range. Was there not a more simple formula that could have been used??? Such as? (out of interest) Off the top of my head, could put something in the PoAs instead? Or just clarify the ...

Shooting Dice for Musket/Musket *

The shooting dice for Musket troops are listed as 1 per base at short range and 1 per 2 bases at long range, which seems straightforward enough (though no rank specifications?) However, the shooting dice listing for Musket* doesn't seem to make sense. "1 dice per base of 1st rank at short range 1 di...

Minus PoA for shooting at mounted

What was the thinking behind this? Is it supposed to represent horsemen being intimidating? Or less tightly packed?

Mounting/Dismounting Dragoons

We were a bit thrown by the lack of mount/dismount mechanism for Dragoons in our game today. Are we to assume they're always dismounted, or can they be represented as either? Their musket capability suggests they're on foot but their move distance is more akin to mounted. If they were mounting/dismo...

What are the main changes in version 3?

What are the main changes in v3? I hope they don't involve homogenising all the troop types even further.

My Field of Glory Pet Hates

1. (Other players) combining the charge and manouvre phases (they invariably do this no matter how much I stress the point pre-game)

2. (Myself) forgetting to apply quality re-rolls to cohesion tests.

Sale of the Books

Hi

Slitherine was running a discounted sale of all the "real world" FoG Products a few years ago. Is that still on, does anyone know?

Re: Jaegers, Voltiguers, Tirraileurs, Fusiliers and Light In

Thanks for that. A few further questions then: What made Jaegers different from other Central European Light Infantry? What was the difference between French Cuirassiers and Carabiniers? Was there any practical difference between British Dragoons and other British Battle Cavalry, or was "Dragoons" j...

Re: Jaegers, Voltiguers, Tirraileurs, Fusiliers and Light In

So, just within the term Jaeger, within the Russian army, it changes. Well, no, because I wasn't asking about quality but about role. This is my understanding of the terms I listed: Voltigeurs: French elite light infantry. Jaegers: Central European light infantry. Fusiliers: Standard/Average line i...

Re: Jaegers, Voltiguers, Tirraileurs, Fusiliers and Light In

Thanks, that was interesting and useful, but was hoping for a "dictionary" style definition of what each of them were and what their function was.

Jaegers, Voltiguers, Tirraileurs, Fusiliers and Light Inf.

Can anyone provide a definition for each of the above?

It all gets a bit confusing reading the history books.

Question from a New Player

Hi All Am new to Fog: N although proficient in A/M and Renaissance. The Napoleonic equivalent to the Army Lists of A/M and Renaissance seem to be Corps lists. Would I be right to assume then, that this is a corps level game, but with the option to scale up to a full army by combining 2 or more Corps...

Fighting in 2 Directions PoA (V1)

What is the exact definition of this?

Does it mean that if any part of the Battle Group is engaged in 2 directions the whole Battle Group gets the negative PoA?

Thanks

Routing if Engaged to Front and Flank (V1)

Hi

If you are engaged to front and flank do you still rout when broken? Thinking about it in real life, it would be less easy to flee if you had troops lined up along your side. If you do rout, in which direction do you flee?

Thanks
