Re: Forum speed is Real Slow

I've had this problem for a while actually.

Edit: seems quite slow at the moment. My reply took 30-40 seconds to post and editing it was also slow.

Re: 2 Suggestions to improve a great game

If memory serves, that island can be reached by the raven fellow. He has a jump/slam spell with a pretty long range - provided you can see the landing. Iirc, I summoned a few bats to see the island, then jumped over. Was rather disappointed to find just some random item there.

Re: Easy mode?

... seems PATCH will be released at Friday ... anyway was able to finish that map in around 80 !! turns , enemy had an insane strong and large army ... wasn't really fun, but when you managed to complete it, somehow satisfying  Did they mention the patch on twitter or something? Couldn't find...

Re: Easy mode?

Me too. I managed to refine my opening movies on regular but I was still save-scumming like a mf. The real spike was the first Sunken Lands; that scenario is tough. Restarting on easy i find things are still fairly difficult. Getting the extra supply talents are an absolute must, especially for the ...

Re: Tale of Falir prequel campaign

Is the prequel campaign very long? Not that it matters at this point, there is no way to upgrade my (steam) regular edition. Speaking of which, why was the price only available the day of release? I'll usually set aside some money for a premium edition but not knowing the price was slightly concerni...

Re: A spot of feedback

I just logged in to post that very thing. I'm playing on a 17" laptop two feet away and some text is nearly impossible to read - the quest list being one. It looks like a size 6 font which is so small it makes the Distant Worlds UI jealous. Game is really fun though. I played FG for the first time m...

Re: Sharing war experiences (General XP/Unit Analysis/WIP)

Nice write-up. I just completed the main campaign again for like the 4th time. Such a fun game. Parallax raises a number of key points. AI loves to target Command units. Incidentally, I usually have three command units by end game: a salamander command, a SM Command squad, and Captain Tycho of cours...

Re: Germany Grand Campaign

Thanks for all your work Erik. I was fiddling around trying to add the Moscow scenario and had one idea about naming the scenario something like 001Moscow so it would appear before Poznan but I'm admittedly crap with the editor. Can't change order of scenarios, can't edit much with notepad. Ah well,...

Re: Germany Grand Campaign

Hey Erik, I've hit a dead end. I completed the Vyazma scenario but the campaign abruptly finished. Looking over the branches in the campaign editor it looks like you forgot to add the Moscow '41 and Demyansk pocket scenarios; branch #66 & 67 are both empty. It would be a pretty easy fix as I see you...

Re: Germany Grand Campaign

Ah, that makes sense. I picked up a number of commanders in the first bunch of levels but nothing since then. Regarding 1.1, I had downloaded it to the same folder as 1.0 (which I removed), but the save I loaded was the one of the campaign map right prior to the Smolensk scenario. It ended up showin...

Re: Germany Grand Campaign

Hey Erik, how do you transfer save files from 1.0 to 1.1, or can you? Anyway, completed a couple more scenarios: The Minsk one I had that same problem with no commander after killing all the tanks. Same for the Smolensk scenario, no commander after killing 20 or so tank units :(. Smolensk had a few ...

Re: Germany Grand Campaign

Hey Erik, a few more levels done: The Belgrade scenario I didn't receive my commander for bringing the two Romanian officer (horse) units to Belgrade. The same thing happened with the Greek Metaxas scenario - destroying all the tanks objective I think. Anyway, no commander for either of those. Both ...

Re: Germany Grand Campaign

Erik, what difficulty level have you been optimising single player on for these scenarios? I'm finding the supply level for the AI player really tough, if you don't swat them first time they re-equip back to full strength every turn, pretty much whatever state they're in. I appreciate encirclement ...

Re: Germany Grand Campaign

Small question: How do you scroll down in the victory screen to read all the text? I think I'm missing something that would allow me to choose between Operation Sea Lion and the historical route with Belgrade (after the Maginot scenario). Clicking Exit sends me right into the Channel Islands scenari...

Re: Germany Grand Campaign

No worries Erik. An extra 8 or so army points would do a lot for those french missions I mentioned. Alternatively, you might consider adding another air departure point to the map so the player can switch over to bombers more quickly after gaining air supremacy - those few turns are absolutely vital...

Re: Germany Grand Campaign

Hey Erik, in case you were looking for some feedback I thought I'd give you mine. I'm quite familiar with the PC grand campaign so I love the port. The Polish counterattack scenario is brutally hard - more so than the original PC scenario which was hard enough IMO. I think the lack of artillery supp...

Re: How much latitude does Slitherine have with 40k?

Thanks for the info, Iain. I guess I shouldn't hope for too much when it comes to GW.

That said, I've had a blast playing Sanctus and Armageddon.

How much latitude does Slitherine have with 40k?

Does their license from GW only cover the SR system? Are they only able to include races that fought in the lore?

I think SR is the closest to 40k TT as I've ever seen and it would be a great template for 40k as a whole, but I wonder how many races we will actually get to see.

Re: Both Campaigns won. Personal impression

I'd agree with a lot of that, Merkarri. I've played 57 hours and found I enjoyed the game the more I played. Like you said, the Orks don't sit around much. Almost every scenario is a full on attack. Though it's not in their nature, teaching them to guard a position would be a nice change of pace. In...
