Re: FOG2DL given clean bill of health by Slitherine review . . .

At the moment we are monitoring things carefully but the system has not changed. We're in the process of merging PBEM1, 2 and 3 together which is a necessary step before we can change the anti cheat systems. The current monitoring and any new system apply to all games.

Re: Opponent absent-Order of Battle Tournament2

As long as you've taken your turns and its waiting for you opponent to move then the issue is on them. If they don't move at all they'll be kicked from the tournament and you'll be awarded a win and BYE score. If they get past the minimum turn count they'll get a score penalty and you'll get a bonus...

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

We will make an announcement once everything is finalised but it will be about general systems and not details. Partly as these could help people to game the system and partly as they are going to be subject to change without notice. The issue is as we're reviewing different games there are differen...

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

There will be warnings before a sanction. I'm not willing to discuss the details of this as it could be used to try and manipulate things. The aim is to find a balance between preventing cheating and false positives. We agree it was too far one way, we just want to be careful we don't go too far the...

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

I should have been clear. Any proven cheating is an immediate permanent ban. Any system of cheat detection will have false positives and no way to be sure if someone is cheating or not. The temporary bans of increasingly length are to remove people with behaviour that matches cheating, but could be ...

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

I haven't had time to read all the messages in this thread but an update on where we are. The review identified a number of users whose activity was suspect. We found that of the 5 of them. The thing that surprised us, was when we looked in to banning them, 4 had already been banned, one of which wa...

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

Unfortunately that would be an utterly enormous task and would not be a good user experience as it would have to upload the turn after every player action. It also probably wouldn't give any additional protection as at best it would just make the cheating more time consuming as you'd have to go comb...

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

Mike, that's exactly the problem. We have a zero tolerance for cheating and anyone we know is doing it would be banned. Determining whether someone is cheating beyond a reasonable level of doubt is the issue. Having a trial by public opinion is also not something that sounds like a good plan. An unp...

For anyone having issues please reported your IP address and the exact time it happened and your time zone to help the team locate it. So far they cant find any issues but its hard to examine the logs properly without this info.

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

We're currently collecting data on all games to find out what "normal" behaviour is to be able to set the thresholds that will prevent cheating. This particular incident would have been averted if more time had been spent reviewing it but the system was designed years ago and has not really been rev...

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

I understand your frustration but any change has to be thought through. This is not a simple thing to resolve without causing as much damage as good so we need to evaluate the options here and make sure we get it right. This was a perfect storm of support staff being on holiday so the team being und...

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

The thing I worry about with reporting all download/upload issues is that they do happen in genuine fair play. Sometimes the server glitches. Sometimes your machine glitches. I've had it happen to me on numerous occasions over the years. I worry that showing these values could create false suspicion...

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

Hi guys, we are aware of the issue. Dkalenda had been detected as suspicious behaviour and was contacted by the team and received an official ban warning. He explained he had a problem with his internet connection and we explained that did not matter and any further discrepancies would result in a b...

20 years of thank you!

Our first fans were our friends and foes. Wargame players we would meet at DBM tournaments, miniatures painters, diorama makers, the guys we would see for a pint after crushing their Seleucid armies over the weekend. It was a small venture, full of familiar faces. It was three of us running a compan...

Re: Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach - v1.3.0 Update - New Achievements, co-op, tournaments!

Co-Op is 2 v AI, so not team vs team. That would be a bit too much to ask at this stage int eh games life cycle :)

Its still very cool though!

And the tournament is great fun. We had a number of trial runs to get it working right and its really really fun!

Sorry guys, the maintenance is taking longer than expected. We expect it to take up to 2 more hours to complete the maintenance. The database had grown bigger than expected and is taking longer to optimize than we had thought it would.

Can you mail support with the details as requested by petirouge so this doesn't get missed. The exact time, your username and your IP address are what they need to dig in to this. Same for you opponent. Without this, there isn't much we can do as it seems to be fine for everyone else or we'd be buri...
