Re: Is there a way to tone down shipwrecks et al

3. I read somewhere that this game was based on a board game. I tried to research it but came up empty. Does anyone know the name of said board game and whether or not it had sequels? It was based on a board game but it has not been publicly released. Have fun!:) [/quote] Darn! It would have been i...

Is there a way to tone down shipwrecks et al

1. Shipwrecks are a love/hate thing with me. I like that they happen but don't like how often. Heck, I had one fleet that got hit five turns in a row! I'm guessing that means that damage (if not totally sunk) is a percent so never goes to zero. So, is there an easy way I can tone this down? 2. I'm s...

Re: E-mailing List?

No, I haven't. I didn't check trash, however, since that generally only filters mass mailings but it may be there.

EDIT: If it went to trash, I couldn't find it.

Re: E-mailing List?

Well, almost a week and still no e-mail confirmation nor a reply from the the forms (messages) I sent. I guess I'll have to rely on hearing it on the grapevine. It'll take longer but, in the end, no significant difference, I suppose. My bet is that I'll hear it first from GoG (providing Brexit doesn...

Re: E-mailing List?

I guess nothing worth having comes easy. I'll complete this when the e-mail confirmation arrives. I had to send a message since it's been a while. At some point, I'll get this done. :) Now, the article that the link leads to I found very interesting. I've not had much luck with map editors so I stop...

E-mailing List?

This is perhaps not the exactly correct place to ask this but I will. I've played AAR a whole bunch of times and greatly enjoyed it but, it is close to time to move on to another game. However, since I liked it so much, I'm wondering if Kubat Software has some sort of system set up to e-mail people ...

Re: AI Advantage Question and General Scheme of Things Q

1. I doubt that I do. I can load the oldest save from that game and see but there's no guarantee that would be the turn it happened. The reason I assume it's a influence issue is that the information window said Ptolemaic influence had grown and the city decided to join them. Now, in the random terr...

AI Advantage Question and General Scheme of Things Q

1. I've moved on to the randomly generated land masses and something I didn't expect happened. An AI player who happened to be part of my confederation took a city from me via "influence". I didn't think that a confederated party could do that and, indeed, when I tried to influence it back later, I ...

Re: Question on units inside cities

Either would work and thank you for clearing up the unit in a city (basically, a garrison). I've generally just left them on top to garrison so I've never seen the animations you mentioned.

Re: Question on units inside cities

How would that work? Training is delayed? Defense value added to city defense value? Unit comes outside the walls and is attacked prior to the city being attacked? I'm not sure if a unit that is ordered into a city even defends the city currently (one that is doing nothing - no training, etc). I see...

Re: Question on units inside cities

Now that brings up funny images in my brain. An army taking a test while the city walls are attacked then handing in their papers while the roof collapses in their class room. Yeah, I agree and if I knew how to make mods I'd likely change that but one has to play within the rules. I just don't put ...

Re: Question on units inside cities

My understanding is that if they are being trained in a city then they contribute nothing, which seems a little extreme to me, as the men are there with their equipment and I'm sure they wouldn't site in their barracks or sit in the training arena doing nothing as the walls are being stormed. If a ...

Question on units inside cities

Do these units factor into city defense? What if they are being reformed or are in training? Apparently ships are protected if inside a port but I think that is only because ports can't be attacked. My observations lead me to believe that those inside a city contribute nothing.

Thanks. I went back to the previous save anyway so all is well. Just kept "emergency" in case it was important.

What does it mean if, in the saved games menu in game, one of the possibilities is "emergency"? I'm afraid to open it.

Re: What am I Missing?

Yes, I did that and it has helped. I defeated the Antiganigs but the new Ardiaie/Athens federation declared war on me and stupid me, trying to keep the Roman juggernaut at bay, agreed with their demand to declare war on the German tribes and now I am being pushed back as I can't replace losses very ...

Re: What am I Missing?

I managed to avoid food riots by using Tithe, so am now beginning my expansion. I have most of the original Macedonian land now and have made peace with Athens and Sparta is struggling with Ptolemy's armies. I have just accepted Ardiaie (sp?) to the Federation, so I now have control of small cities...
