I think that the bigger shields for the 25/28mm figs can be quite a pain but I use a sharp scalpel as well and it is usually okay - the smaller ones for 15mm seem to work just fine

Litko here in the states sells all of the appropriate sizes of bases in at least three different thickness and also sells the magnets of several kinds to go with them as well. gale force nine also sells GREAT bases - I would guess that there has to be someone "down under" who sells the sam...

I do something similar - BUT I like to mix some brown paint into the base medium - I can stand to fight that white base color and I HATE it when a stinking WHITE spot of color "jumps" out at me later on - when I think I am done
