Re: This is why it is hard to play even the best RTW2 mods!!!

I was going to play some RTW2/DEI (Divide et Impera); arguably one of the best TW mods ever done ... won lots of awards. Look at this unit standing on a 45 degree slope. The maps are beautiful rendered, but it is all for affect. These Romans must have their space boots on!!! Time for some FOG2 ... ...

Re: Mounted Breaking off from elephants

There is a reduction in combat power ( which is visible in the combat logs) when you are in the various degrees of "disorder" from avderse terrain and or from elephant/camel stink... Severe Disorder also gives a -1 cohesion test when losing a combat, Units are not considered steady when above slight...

Re: Mounted Breaking off from elephants

I think I've had non-lancers fall-back from elephants on occasion. Non lancers will normally flee from elephants and surely wouldn't charge elephants. What about the guy from Rohan in LOTR?? haha Assuming the Lancers and Light Spear cavalry are superior ( and 90% are..) the Lancers actually are dow...

Re: Passive vs Active Defence

For the “stats of draws” in some tournaments , I’ll opine this. What isn’t known or quantifiable is when player x basically tells player y unless “z happens, it’s a draw”. Player y “complies” if only to get an actual game in, usually at some tactical disadvantage. A win or loss here obviously is no...

What is cavalry superiority if he just sits on that hill?
Well, you could envelope his rear and flank with them to threaten while assaulting with your infantry. The hill looks mild and if so a 25 poa bonus to your enemy isn’t the end of the world.

Re: Maps and Victory Points

You have Cavalry superiority and a high concentration of leaders on your right flank, hardly a a “feint”. Stop with the timid thoughts, encircle and destroy The blue bellies!

In my experience Northern Europe terrain is a little more rugged than the Mediterranean.

Re: Chaos Tourney IV

TGM (Bulgars) defeats GeneralShapur (Cimmerians) 10-44

The loss of the CImmerian CnC ( Conan perhaps??) and cascade of cohesion blows speeded things up quite rapidly.

Re: Passive vs Active Defence

It seems like a large amount of players feel partial credit is needed, hence all the rules for different kinds of draws, point differences in victories etc , blah blah. I have never played any sport where the goal was to tie. Are you from the US or Canada? I know in US sport there are very few draw...

Re: Passive vs Active Defence

We play even point battles because we view it is fair right? And if you get to choose the army (mostly) that you want to play with and logic would dictate that you would pick an army that you would be willing to fight with under fair conditions no? Maybe a tournament format where 1 side gets to obt...

TGM's Assyrians defeat Rob123's Vikings 37-62 The arrow storm took great effect in the beginning but then the arrows ran dry and in a surprise move, the enemy foot charged and defeated our heavy chariots changing the balance and leading to a long battle of attrition ... Good game! Fun tourney, would...

Re: Naval integration

Someday we will have a decent turn based naval game... the best one now is actually the tactical naval portion of the strategic Napoleonic game by Matrix, Crown of glory.. I would love to see a game about the Armada, Lepanto etc.

Re: Impact

Does anyone here think it makes sense that a unit of hoplites should be able to drop 2 cohesion levels when it charges another unit of holplites in the flank? Yes, my view is that it makes sense that it's possible . Still (highly) unlikely , but possible . And with the vast number of battles, turns...

Re: Impact

I never said that this is exactly how it would look and certainly the representation of sub units within FOG units are beyond the scope of this game, however despite the game being top down, a grid has a certain amount of room, no? It is wide enough to be 1/4 of the range of "effective bow fire". S...

Kraff, are you really suggesting that the mindsets of hundreds of men, compounded by many variables such as bravery, fear, pain loyalty, etc , super compounded by group/ mob/ crowd mindset is predicable??? What I'm saying is that since time immemorial military drill has been set to flatten all thos...
