Re: Question about Commanded shot

In the TT game commanded shot protected adjacent horse by reducing any PoA disadvantage when the protected horse were in combat with enemy horse. So a 2 poa disadvantage became only 1, and if 1 then they became equal poa wise. Comparable or superior protected horse received no benefit. I believe the...

Re: Return of pursuing madness

People also forget how often you can take advantage of pursuits to get a unit out of a perilous situation by gaining xtra movement and ignoring zoc’s or by gaining an xtra move to charge an enemy that would have been just outside reach. You gotta weigh the risks and take the good results with the bad.

Interested but...

So perhaps I need a change of pace from killing digital enemies with pikes, gladii, muskets and howitzers so of course this game has come into my radar. Big fan of SSI's original 5 Star Games ( hoping one day Star General is given a good rebuild...) Poking at the "factions" I see that the ecclectic ...

Re: Skip Replay?

Byzantine Games doesn't have a direct access to the game engine itself and creating the new (bug free) parallel system would certainly no be a small task. I think vast majority of players would not use the option either which means it would be a lot of work for little gain. If you haven't already, ...

Re: Modding dragoons ?

Perhaps reducing dragoon’s move points to 12 would be sufficient for what you are trying to achieve. 12 is Light Foot's move points. And such Detached Musketeers remain steady in the woods, unlike the dragoons. Well yes, they would have the same move rate as light foot and also fully armoured genda...

Not a bad idea, not sure if it’s possible. Perhaps reducing dragoon’s move points to 12 would be sufficient for what you are trying to achieve.

Doesn’t this thesis ignore Russias dramatic expansion eastward at the expense of nomads from the mid 1500’s on via firearms?

Re: Foot skirmishers evading diagonally.

It costs a unit 6 move points to enter on a diagonal, 4 on an orthogonal. There is no rounding. Heavy foot have 10 mp,Light foot have 12 mp’s, Cavalry 16 and light horse 20. All the move ratios are higher from the lf perspective on the diagonal. However I’m not sure that it matters . There is also ...

Re: So units I like to be added in-game recruitment

A little thing that annoys me that some region unit pools seems incomplete ( you can add the one you see not in-game). Gallic warband and noble Gallic forces while Gauls had good cavalry they were renowned for the ferocity of their infantry . Gaul infantry was used as heavy infantry by Hannibal the...

Re: Foot skirmishers evading diagonally.

Basically diagonal distance is longer than straight. It's about 1.4x the length of the side. Obviously the diagonal distance is longer than the straight, but that should affect pursuers and evaders equally. It does but a unit with 16 mp’s. Ie Cavalry , use 12 to cross 2 diagonals, the remaining 4 a...

Re: Does this look familiar to you ?

Somewhere way back in these threads RBS said they used greyscale unit models and terrain in the early alpha , but in the end they “colorized” it as to better match gamers expectations. Would have been cool to see what it looked like! +1. Indeed. It would have been really nice. I had almost asked on...

Re: Elan/Experience

I can’t think of special effects in this game ( other than the name convention, ie demoralized instead of below average if moral is lower than experience but have same overall “quality”) However you could code it so it does. In fog 2 Phoenician Poeni infantry are average quality, but have high moral...
