Re: Future DLC?

Having invested in the two previous versions of this game only to find them dropped as detailed above and, the increasing gap in between the release of DLC I am cautious before recommending it to my friend. So, with all due respect it was ' ... dodged with a non-answer ...', which is an answer in i...

A novel answer indeed, worthy of the House of Commons! lol
The last DLC was released May 30 ,2019, how much faster do you expect?

Also, FOG1 was not abandoned by Slitherine. As Ian McNeil posted a long time ago , the developer of the new unity version took the $, but never delivered....

Re: Chaos Tourney

TGM (Armenia) defeats Schweetness (Byzantium) 18 v 47.

The byzzies maneuvered to a good hilltop position, but the Armenian lancers were able to exploit a crack or two and unleashed chaos behind the byzzie defenses. Good game!

Re: Cataphracts : Rework Needed ?

I think the equal points system is part of the problem with the MF spam armies – if they had similar numbers of men to their heavier opponents, they would not be so successful, just as if the horse archers had similar numbers, they would be more successful. Personally, I don’t think drastic changes...

TGM Phoenicians defeats General Shapurs Georgians 34-61 The Georgian host spread from lake Placid on one flank to the edge of the world on the other, leaving us no choice except for a frontal assault. We had high hopes that our new Mark II “Baal Will Eat You” heavy chariots would cleave thru the Geo...

Re: Moving through a ZOC

While I agree a review for change might be in order, I really don’t want to see Cavalry pinned in such a manner by two infantry...(I’d prefer if Cavalry ignored infantry secondary zoc’s in normal circumstances anyhow) So , what if the player whom at the start of his active turn has an infantry unit ...

Challenges up for all, password: chaos ( make sure you pick the one with your name) FYI: the filters are by default on, you need to click on army b so the filters show so you then can turn off... This is just commentary, but I never realized the games generates and displays the armies before you iss...

Re: Digital Humanities, Mathematical Modelling of Cavalry Charge

Not really impressed with the article. No one at the battle had access to whatever computer model that allegedly determined “ the best” course of action which apparently is limited to three choices...( the article is quiet about what they actually used, could be the total war engine for all we know ...

Re: SUGGESTION: Changes To Victory Conditions

I am not a fan of anything that just extends the game because the differential between players is too close ( ie the 59- 59 example mentioned). A single shot from an out of ammo skirmisher can auto rout the steadiest unit. Changing the victory condition to need a 5% etc difference doesn’t extinguish...

Re: Archers too weak

Since the game focus is on getting the “balance” or “interactions” between reasonably historical forces correct, we might need to suffer the long bow perhaps being Better versus heavily armor mounted than contemporary eastern bows, even if that was not the case, to ensure 100 year war battles work ....

Ok that's five, one more and I will consider this as started.
If this gets going, I suggest we get a tally on which dlc’s players have. That way, in any given matchup the player with more dlc’s should issue the challenges ( to broaden the range of potluck armies). I have all.

Re: Give the shieldwall unit some helmets like Dailami foot and make hirdsmen armoured?

You don't need to provide evidence. We are well aware that some of the men in a shieldwall would have helmets. However, as we have mentioned before, we are a small studio and our art budget (and art time allocation) is not infinite. There were simply too many variations of appearance in Ancient and...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires - Ask Us Anything

What if I am not playing a multiplayer Empires campaign but playing against the AI? Then delays are not important if a person wants to export games to multiplayer. I think it would be a very useful feature to export battles to FOG2 in an Empire Campaign vs the AI. Then upload to multiplayer and the...

Re: Fall back cohesion test conditions

I’m not sure fall back literally means walking backwards. A formation could just do an about face, the rear rankers are now the file leaders and everyone behind just needs to follow.

Re: Fall back cohesion test conditions

The algorithm used does not test for whether the enemy can actually charge, it only tests from them being within their normal charge distance - i.e. 2 squares for most infantry, 4 squares for most cavalry. So the test applies even if the enemy foot unit within two squares is already in melee? What ...

Re: Flanking Bug

I think I saw this once a long time ago. I believe the answer as to why was something about the way the engine calculates movement. It was a legit flank based on program logic but the execution looked odd.. which sounds like what you are describing.I think RBS noted it would be problematic to fix an...
