Re: Graphics problems

Well, I am impressed. After the patch, the game began to load with the odd graphics, stalled (unresponsive) and then corrected itself. I consider myself fortunate! And for the great customer service as well. I am using 1900x1080 which seems fine rather than my native 1900x1200. Also, obviously minor...

Graphics problems

The game starts and cannot read clearly enough to change graphic settings. Never seen this in 25 years. Nvidia card GTX 745 running native 1900x1200. The game successfully installed DirectX and Net. Help.... Seems like vertical sync, with pages overlapping in a vertical box format. Never seen this b...

Re: So this is the Editor that was advertised?

Yes, got Aggressors on release day and gave it a well-deserved positive review on Steam more recently.

FGII's latest patch, I cannot play the game, even skirmish. The dev and I have agreed I will come back in several months, but he did not offer to give me my money back.

Re: size of scenarios

I agree, so I'd take any other era the devs might choose as workable with this system! Maybe a DLC.

Re: size of scenarios

I prefer the smaller scenarios as well. This game is underrated, imo. So I need to get a review up on Steam now that I have had time to play it. Lots of depth beneath the surface and also on display. Excellent UI as far as I can tell. I would gladly buy another era of war using this system. WW2 is o...

Re: When?

+1 I have not followed this game, so what do I know about it? Nothing yet. However, you may have competition with Unity of Command 2. It needs to be better in all areas, and not mostly a graphics update, of course. It might be good to keep it in Beta until it's ready. Don't release prematurely as wi...

Game crashes when deploying for skirmish

Losing my save game with the patch - that I can understand, maybe. But say someone put 100 hours into a campaign?

I have not had a Matrix or Steam game crash in at least a decade. Incredible but true.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks

So this is the Editor that was advertised?

In more than 30 years of playing wargames, including 95% of Matrix releases, I cannot remember coming across a clumsier, more poorly documented editor. For a Matrix release that says the game includes an "editor," the current state of it is unacceptable, imo. I know a couple of hardy souls on Steam ...

"Wack a mole" behavior

First, great game now that I've been able to not lose for more than 30 years. Not sure if this has been covered: Playing Epirus (on Balanced difficulty), took Dardarni's capitol and 70 armies went on the run in the remaining four underdeveloped provinces they had left. Was allied with Carthage and R...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires Nation Modifiers – Which faction has the best set?

The "bigger is better" model doesn't work here. As a beginner, I find it slightly frustrating keeping decadence down. "Growing" your empire or conquering a province can be bad for you, unlike most every other game. I tried to build a lot of culture buildings with larger nations, but hasn't helped so...

Re: A question about trading

I hate to ask smart people a dumb question, but here goes:

If I need marble to build something, and that marble is not available within three regions' distance, am I out of luck - or do I just pay top dollar for marble from another empire producing it?

Armies lose great strength on the move

I am playing a multiplayer hotseat (four countries I control) with FoW off. A couple of times I (believe) I have seen armies as large as 77 that I move thru my territory (say Macedonia) via land to attack, and when my turn comes up again, they are like strength 16. No big deal, just wanted to check ...

Re: 'Easy' Level - REALLY?!?

I found it educational to play three or four countries like Macedonia, Sparta, Epirus, Lysimakos and Aetolia at the same time multiplayer-hotseat with easy legacy option. Maybe if I pay close attention, I can figure out some trends beyond the bad-luck legacy token factor which has Epirus doing poorl...

Re: Hot Seat Games

Not sure, but the hotseat trick makes the game for me - at least initially. I can play a group of barbarians to learn the game, and the challenge isn't lessened one bit. Whereas playing one Barbarian tribe would be suicide. You can do a lot of mixing and matching with this set-up. Thanks!

Re: Can't change the army's number(men) and add more deploy points in the custom battle and (custom)campaign mode

You can change the number of men by editing the Squads.csv in the Field of GloryII/Data folder. Of course make a backup, and also the dev does not recommend changing the original files. There is another way but I don't know it off-hand.

Easiest way to change deploy points is to use CheatEngine.
