Re: Online Players: Use Version 1.1

Is V1.1 going to get a minor tweak to V1.11 in light of the community playtesting and comments ? The following 4 adjustments to the AI would make a significant impact on AI 'intelligence'. These are the 4 BIGGEST reasons why I beat the Allied AI. -The Allied 4th should have very little reason to lea...

Let me see.......let me see...original post,...oh, there it is..

Yes, I suppose I am retreating back from that statement, but it's a fighting withdraw and not an all out route.

Re: El Alamein Info

I hope all the games in the CiC series have the same look, feel, mechanics, and gameplay....just different themes, maps, units, and special rules based on the particular battle. A player should be able to fire up any game and say, "Ah, this is a CiC game." without ever having played it.

Re: Reinforcing / Retreating

Yoj, I like that comment. I have actually learned a ton by playing wargames, history only being part of that. Playing games and learning rules taught me how to study.....school certainly didn't. I taught myself BASIC computer programming just to develop a data base type of program for one of my boar...

The Map.

I love maps. When I saw the map of BOtB, I knew instantly that I would be interested in the game. I enjoy the map artwork of BOtB, the look and feel. I would like to enjoy the map even more by having a toggle for the display of the terrain space lines. After playing the game for just minutes, it bec...

Re: Reinforcing / Retreating

Ron, you added to my point very nicely.

I don't like admitting how much time I've spent playing games in my life

..... I could have REALLY ammounted to something if I would have spent that time trying to better myself.

Re: Play balance

Yoj, Excellent point, and one that I agree with. The Axis need an incentive to Go for the Meuse, not another reason not to, but I think this incentive should only apply during the initial bad weather phase of the game. I played a game as the Allies the other day and lost in three days due to a Meuse...

Re: Reinforcing / Retreating

'What's your demographic ?' would make for an interesting poll. I'm fairly confident in saying that it will be the older crowd that gives games like BOtB staying power, or a CiC series any staying power. There are times when I wished I still had my Apple IIe to play GeoPolitique 1990 (a 'futuristic'...

Re: Play balance

Bla, I like the increased airpower idea. Like you, I find it to be ...basically not there. I know, Axis unit movement gets reduced and all that but,...where are my planes ? I like the random attacks doing the odd PIP damage to Axis units....sound effects too please.

Re: Play balance

Is it possible we are not giving 'beginners' enough credit for being reasonably intelligent and interested enough to learn a little bit about the actual battle ? BOtB has done an excellent job of providing background information right in game, they don't even have to look for it. New players have to...

Re: Play balance

Tweak the VPs making it harder for the Axis to win. It should be fairly tough for the Germans to win a BOtB game, and not 'balanced'. If you're up for the challenge, play the Germans. If you're not, play the Allies. The stats SHOULD show about a 35% win rate for the Germans for a BOtB game. Mylo

Re: what to do against a German defensive line strategy?

Generally speaking, I think it should be tougher for the Axis to win a game of BOtB then the Allies. I believe currently, it is tougher for the Allies particularly given the strategies available for the Germans to avoid the Meuse.

Re: Reinforcing / Retreating

I'm not big on confirm buttons either quite honestly as I like games that continue to flow with as few clicks as possible. I was thinking the "Yes/No" was the lesser of all evils, and a fairly quick and easy decision to make without stumping new players on just what it means. It would only...

Re: Reinforcing / Retreating

Yoj, ....me too. Ultimately, I would like the option of being able to attack or not, when I enter a space with a unit. I was trying to suggest something that was inline with what the game designers are leaning towards, that being simplicity, playability...and such. Personally, I feel an "Attack...

Re: Reinforcing / Retreating

I can understand the need to make sure players don't get 'gamey', by cycling units in and out of a space at their liesure, taking advantage of 'exceptions to the rule' ....nobody wants that, except gamey players. I can live with an entire space being activated by a retreating unit. I would prefer so...
