Re: GS v4.0 link PC version only

Installed OK, figured out how to get the sound going but... I lost the big maps option (I may have accidentally opted for low resolution).
How do I get that back?

Re: Labrador and Inishowen

As far as the Irish army goes, I think 5 units is excessive.
2-3 garrisons is more like it but even so, it would give the player the false impression that the south is stronger militarily than the North - which is hardly the case.

Re: Labrador and Inishowen

As far as Irish lakes go, my home town is on the shores of Lough Neagh which is the largest lake on the British isles. In fact, if you exclude Co. Fermanagh, N. Ireland looks like a donut with Lough Neagh in the midst of it. If made to scale, the lake would take up the bigger part of a hex which wou...

Re: Labrador and Inishowen

As far as the topography of Ireland goes - and yes, I do live there - you have it pretty accurate. No need to change anything unless you want to go into minute detail.
The forests are small and scattered and many of them are in mountainous territory - which you already have as rough terrain.

Labrador and Inishowen

Again I want to bring up some map issues: 1. The Inishowen peninsula, with Malin Head - the northernmost spot on the island of Ireland - is shown in CEAW as belonging to N. Ireland. It is, in fact, part of the Republic. I appreciate that Our Wee Country is... wee and units must have a place to stand...

Re: New PBEM game

Felix,
I have tried playing your PBEM file on vanilla CEAW, GS 2.10 and GS 3.10 and got messages that the file cannot be opened as it is from "a previous version".
Perhaps if you pick "check for updates" from your disk's menu you may be able to update your version.
Thanks!

Subs can't upgrade in occupied ports - CEAW 3.10

I am playing a human opponent and have come across a bug: Playing the Axis powers, I did not accept the armistice France offered and proceeded to conquer the country. My subs went into the ports of France to upgrade and could not. The message given was upgrades can only take place in port. I next tr...

Re: Map of Crete

The glaring mistake was the shape of Crete - and that's now fixed. :D If you really want to polish up the map a bit, there are some minor corrections you could make: 1. The seaport just SW of Athens is properly spelled Piraeus (with an "a") 2. The island of Corfu in the NW of Greece, off its border ...

Re: Looking for CEAW 3.10 opponents

Wouldn't mind a couple more opponents, now that I'm getting into the hang of the game.
PS. I'm now OK with the oil consumption option.

Looking for CEAW 3.10 opponents

Hello and Happy New Year!
I'm looking to improve my game by starting to play live opponents - the AI, I pretty much mastered.
Don't mind playing Axis or Allies but would prefer to play without the oil consumption distraction - if that's OK.
Any challengers?

I would hope certain words are censored in these forums i.e. you type a forbidden word and something like ******* appears. But, if anyone makes any offensive remarks in this forum, I would just send a personal message to the forum's moderators.

Re: Game crashes during AI naval turn

Thanks, Tim!
My problem was resolved. It turned out to be a missing graphics file that was installed when I clicked on "check for updates" in the game's menu.

Re: Map of Crete

It is actually the shape of the island. Btw, yes, I am Greek, residing many years now in the UK. Crete is divided into four prefectures: from West to East - Chania, Rethymno, Heraklio and Lasithi Chania is OK, Rethymno is omitted: the map goes straight from Chania into the gulf of Messara - and not ...
